I was hoping to get some information on good fish taxidermists in the west metro area. Any recommendations?

Ron Knutson out of Waconia. He's done work great for me in the past at a reasonable price. Did a nice Bass for me. Don't think he wants to do Pike or Muskies anymore but you'd have to talk to him. Hope this helps. Oh, by the way, just got home from my new honey hole.... NO ONE Else on the lake.... Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry can't spill the beans on this one for a while. smirk.gif

Jim's Lakeland Taxidermy in Mound right off highway 7. He has done quite a few mounts for me that have all turned out great. You'll have to wait awhile, but there's a reason why he's so busy.

Slabber,

Has Jim done any crappie mounts for you? He said he was about a year out, which made me a little worried, but I just wanted to know what people had to say. What kind of fish has he done for you?

As far as fish go, he has only done one walleye for me. I have had some other things done by him as well. I had a white crappie done by someone else and I wasn't very satisfied with it. A buddy of mine has had a bunch of things done by Jim, including a walleye and a couple of Red Lake crappies. It all looks terrific! After I saw his crappies, I brought my Red Lake slab in there to get mounted as well. I should hopefully be getting it back sometime in March. I did some looking around when I was first getting things mounted, and I thought Jim did the best work by far for a comparable price to most.

Shot me an e-mail and send you a link to one that I know, I've seen his work and it's amazing. He is a master of masters taxidermist.

Jim does fine work. He's done a two walleyes for me and a handfull for friends and they've all looked great. He's also done a grouse and a ring bill for me and were also very good. I don't know anyone that has a crappie from him. You can go to his shop and take a look at his work. A guy can't go wrong bringing him a fish or animal. The only downfall is the wait, but well worth it.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
