Here's an e-mail I rec'd from Vern after he recently attended the annual DNR roundtable. As you may know, the MN Sport Fishing Coalition is watching and guiding the DNR through some tournament rules and regs update process. This item came out of left field this week-end.

"At the recent roundtable in St. Cloud, the MN DNR distributed a draft of proposed Tournament Permit rule changes. One of these is a rule change that would deny a permit for live-release on any waters where Largemouth Bass Virus (LMBV) has been detected."

This would immediately affect Pools 3 and 7. Pool 4 may likely contain fish that will also test positive. All permits would require catch and kill. There is concern with the spread of the disease via confinement in livewells and increased delayed mortality due to the stress associated with weigh-ins.

The MNSFC will address this issue.

What's your thoughts on this issue??

As we have been trying to spread the word we need input from all. Please contain yourself when posting on any board and do not turn it into a bash fest.

      So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

      Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

      I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

      A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

      Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.
