Potato Lake Eyes

Lots of you guys fish Potato and Archery asked for advice so i think a forum is ok. I didn't really fish potato much until last summer, however i found a few patterns that consistantly produced walleyes for me. so this forum is for advice on potato if you have a tip feel free to leave it. I found that the crawler harnesses on bottom bouncer fished in 16 to 26 fow was a very good way to put walleyes in the boat.

I've had some success in the spring with leeches and a long leader, fished real slow.

Has anyone ice fished on Potato? Is it possible to drive an ATV or snowmobile on at the public landing in the NW bay or does the inlet keep it open?

Nels,

You can drive from the NW access. But, be careful and

keep close to the reed line. Had a friend drop his

snowmobile in the lake at that location only a couple

of weeks ago. If you fish around the reed line and

find a drop off near, the crappie bite should be good!

I had luck back in the mid 90s fishing the rock piles

for walleyes in the winter. Those would be found out

in front of the pines. Watch for open water going out

of the NW part of the lake, keep to the west when

entering or exiting that part of the lake. That is

were most of the snowmobiles will travel.

we got a cabin right next to vegabon campground and the ice was about 10" but it was a little slushy but that was two weekends ago. i am heading up their this weekend try some fishing. hopefully their is no slush. i will keep you posted.

my dad was out last night for a while and said that the ice was good but still that 10 to 12 " so becarefull, he didnt catch any thing but he said he only fished for about 20 mins, he needed to get away from the house for while and ended up on potoato

There's about 10 1/2 inches so an ATV is fine. Just went out there last night and even though the action was pretty light it was a beautiful night with the full moon.
