Fished from 10 am till 8 pm. Started at Washington, third point. Fished the breaks from 15-32 feet of water. Marked a few up shallow, probably walleye or perch. No takers. Drilled alot of holes looking for crappies, didnt mark any. Moved to the shallow bay caught a couple nice gills and a 11 inch crappie. Very light bite.

Headed over to Reeds lake in hopes of finding some deep water crappie action. Marked a few in 30 fow, but they were impossible to stay on top of. Caught tons of little bluegills and perch in 18-25 fow.

Next stop Francis in hopes of salvaging the day with some gills. East end for about and hour lots of smaller ones, one 8 incher and a nice crappie.

Headed to Rays for the evening bite, since the gills wouldnt cooperate. Marked alot of fish that would charge my jigging spoon but wouldnt commit. Finally got some action starting about 6 pm lasting till about 7:30. Nothing fast and ferious but caught 5 9-10 inch crappies...

All in all slow day(lots of walking crazy.gif). Best bait was half a waxy with small glow ratso. Minnow head with jigging spoon took a few of the nicer ones. Crappies came anywhere from 2 feet below the ice to right on the bottom. Anyone else care to share how they did? Saw quite a few on Washinton and Frances.

I fished Clear Lake in Waseca targeting some of them BULL GILLS!!!!! I got out there at about 1:00pm and drilled a dozen or so holes along one of my favorite weedlines. I started in 15' and immeditely made contact with crappies.

After that the gills moved in and I caught a few that were 7-8" with 1 gill at 9" (one of my bigger gills in a while) laugh.gif!!! I then had hole hop about every 10-15 minutes to stay on active fish.

The bite lasted until about 4:45pm. I iced about 25 gills (12 of which were 7.5"-9"),about 10 crappies (8"-9.5"), and a perch about 8". They were anywhere from right on the bottom to about 3' up. A #10 Red Glow Genz Bug was the ticket with 1/2 of a waxie. 14'-16' of water seemed to be where the were holding and they moved shallower the later it got.

This leads me to believe that they are moving off of tthe weedline to feed during the daylight hours and moving back into the weeds at night. I didn't take any home so I'm not sure what they were feeding on, but they were sure feeding!!!!!!!

GOOD FISHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the same experience on Rays with fish chasing the jig but rarely biting. Most crappies that did bite were were about 2-4 ft below the ice in 19 FOW but didn't have much size to them. Though some came off the very bottom. I think I caught one crappie close to 10" in two days fishing there, everything else was small. A few very small bluegils and perch were caught as well.

Ya, 120.00 sux. I have Access Broadband, they just raised their rate from 50.00 to 75.00. I'm lucky to get 3 to 5 mbts up or down, sometimes I'll get better. In fairness to them, they have been great trying to respond to my needs, but just can't improve my service. They said that they doubt I'll ever be able to stream a Wild game. I just purchased a new streaming box and it buffers none stop. With the new streaming box and the referral discount, I'll be able to cancel Sling, so, I'll save about 10.00 on my monthly bill. That's what I told my wife 😀 it's true...

That's a better price than when I bought a few years ago. I pulled the giant box across the ice on an old Radio Flyer sled late winter.   Good luck. You'll enjoy Starlink, except for paying the bill. Mine was originally $100/mo, then $110/mo, then they said I was in a low usage area so they dropped my bill to $90/mo for the last two years. I just got a letter a month or so ago saying that we are now in a "high usage" area so they raised it to $120/mo.

I did the app thing. The best place is the middle of my yard and that's not going to happen. I have a tripod stand and a "J" type stand. I've also looked at trimming some trees for a better view of the sky. Once I get it, I'll have to try different areas. Maybe I'll have to hire a guy to climb my tree and install it- I've seen YouTube videos on that. Middle of my roof looks to be somewhat clear, but I don't like to put holes in the shingles. Plus, it's a 12/12 pitch and I don't have Velcro shoes. If anyone is looking to buy Starlink, it's on sale till 4/30 at $159.00. If you do buy it, I can give to a referral code and we'll both get a free month.

With the current conditions and weather forecast I would still stick to Sunday, May 4th.  I almost guarantee Vermilion will be ice-free by the opener on May 10th.  Very likely someone on the list will have the correct date.

Black Bay began opening yesterday afternoon. I could see ice moving around in the middle.

I've got it too. It works great if you can get a clear view of the sky, works decent if there are blockages. I had to take down two trees and still have branches that reach out and interrupt.   Some people have their dish mounted on shore which probably helps a lot. You can download the Starlink app and then walk around your property. It will assess any spot to see if you'll get enough coverage.

I've seen them at the Cub in Minnetonka and just a few weeks ago, the Cub in Chanhassen. The little smelt, smaller than sardines.
