Well let see boys... Some of us are haveing some problems cacthing the beloved, can't believe your eyes, massive, URL Crappie. Lets not let ourselves get beat here. Sounds to me like some of us (not all) are punting on third down, (Dennis Green) it is early yet, and if I remeber correctly a lot of us were still hammering away at these guys with success late season, last year. I don't think they left us or got fished out since. It's time to rise to task at hand and show a little intensity and find these fish. Once they start biting go head and throw anything you got at them cause it wont matter. If your on them u wont be able to keep up! That's why we are still out there everyday and why the sleepers are booked solid every weekend untill June! I'm far from a expert but lets be realistic ...They'll be here.

I like the way you think! smirk.gif

I've got a few other fishing trips going (Winnibigosh I.C.E. Series contest, Horseshoe Chain kitty cats, Backwater Brawl on the Mississippi) and then its back to URL for 3 weekends in a row. We'll find them.

Actually, I think they are there right now, but just not hungry.

Somewhere, sometime this winter the "crappie highway" is going to start to flow. Who will be there first? cool.gif

Me me, pick me Kelly!!! grin.gif I'll be seeing you on the 26th this month. Hopefully the feedbags will be on by then, but if not, I'll throw the tacklebox at 'em and do my darndest. I was thinking of just coming up for some relaxation, but now that I've gotten out around here and caught some crapps, I do believe I'll have to look around a little in case they're not under us. Fish or no fish, I know it will be a GREAT time!

I'll be in one of Kelly's houses Sunday and Monday, I'm pumped already, wish I could leave tomorrow, been rigging and restringing poles the last two nights, deciding on which hooks and jigs to tie on, figuring which ones I'll try first, checking out the tip-ups, already have the Fishtrap packed in the truck so we can venture out away from the house - it should be fun!!!

I'm on my way tomorrow and today is going to be one long day at work!

Last year the crappies evaded me, but I managed a good northern and a mess of walleyes so I was hoping I'd finally catch an URL crappie this year. I did make up for it the next day by having one of those days on LOW that most folks only dream about.

I'd be happy with one just to know I've done it, but if not there is always the next time. Either way fishing is better than working and I need a fix something fierce!

Here fishy, fishy!

triple play - thank goodness I'm not the only one that didnt get a crappie last year. I was the only guy out of 12 that didnt get a single crappie on URL. Caught a few eyes though

To give you an idea of how fast it can change. 4 guys checking in at 1:00 PM Sunday. At 1:00 PM Monday they had 0 crappies, at 9 AM Tuesday they had 1 crappie, 11 AM Tuesday they had 29 crappies. cool.gif

Kelly-

Just curious...did you see these guys or the vehicle they were driving? I've got a co-worker that went with 3 other guys. They got up there Sunday and came home today. I think they accessed from Hillman's and rented from Coby Hood (did I get that right?).

Just curious...I guess I can find out from him tomorrow too.

They rented from me. They go home tomorrow. Coby Hood isn't on Hillman's road.

Ahhh...gotcha. Thanks anyway. Interesting report still. Just goes to show people how it really can be hit or miss! Looking forward to being up there in a couple weeks. Will probably give ya's a call sometime soon.

Thanks for the reply.

It's good to hear a few more positive reports even if it's really hit or miss. I'll be up again in Febraury when things will be in full swing again if not sooner.

Kelly take care of that back of yours. It's a long season and the ice is rough! Especially off Hillman's Road this year. wink.gif I wouldn't want to miss out on any of your reports later this winter.

Thanks for the info.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭
    • leech~~
Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
