I have a sleeper reserved for this weekend out of Fishermens Wharf, just wondering if anyone's been out around there lately? This will be my first time on Mille Lacs so any tips advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You might call up there I know they put a truck through the ice and shut it down to trucks.

I was up there thursday till sunday, seen the truck they put through, and they said it was closed to cars/trucks, but when I geared up and got the wheeler ready 1 car and 2 trucks were coming off the lake as we went on. The thing I thought was crazy is they were driving within 15 feet of the truck that broke through and was still in the water! The crack that was in pretty bad shape a week ago was looking much better and had a decent bridge over it.

As for fishing, slow for me around that area, but hit some structure on the big lake and did well in the low light hrs. A buddy of mine rented a shack from them last weekend and was set up on Shaw's Reef, ended up with 4 or 5 eye's, a couple nice perch and a few pout. 3 of the eyes were around 16 - 17, one 23" and one dink.

Good luck!

Thanks guys. Yea, I am worried about the ice conditions, but they told me that it should be fine. They are going to call this week to let me know if it's even worth driving up there. What kind of bait seems to be working the best? I know the eyes are probably hitting mainly morning and evening, but is anyone getting any pike or anything during the day?

I was up this weekend and had no problem driving my silverado out to Shaw's and then back through fisherman's warf. There were plenty of vehicles on the ice, just stick to the main roads. Ice was 14-16", but there are bad spots. Fishing slurped. Saw walleyes on the cam but only perch were biting.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
