Northern Fishing

The wife and I are heading up in a couple weeks and would like to try and catch some Northerns. Any advise would be welcome. Areas to fish, FOW, bait a secret spot or two. I'll take almost anything that will help.

The best advice i can give ya. Find some perch in the shallower areas under 16 ft. set a tipup about half way down with the biggest shiner you can find at the bait shop and wait. had a doz. of them yesterday 12 shiners 12 hits 12 norts ranging from 3 to 7 lbs. lots o fun. coupled with a mess of eater perch and a couple of eyes. all in all a good day.

Hey Junkie! Were you fishing shorelines or deeper humps?

started on zoomers worked down to ravens then over to center bar. Ended the day over a deeper hump.(was out of big shiners by then). kept myself in 12-20 ft most of the day.

Can someone tell me the best way to get to Ravens? I am wondering about ridges and such that might prohibit travel from any directions.

There are two areas right in front of ravens that people were crossing the ridge

17lb xt mono plain red gamakatsu hook couple of split shot bout 18" from the hook. bout half way to the bottom.
