Is Albert Lea Lake worth my time?

I pass over this lake every time I go to and from Iowa. Next Monday morning I will be coming back and have some spare time. I know at one point in time, before a winter kill or two, this lake was home to a good population of large walleyes/perch/crappie. Has any of these population started to come back yet? I am not going to want to keep anything since the fish would be in a warm car for another 2 hours after. Any chance of a fast bite of any size or even a shot at a couple picture worthy fish? I can always fish somewhere when I get home so if it is going to be dead out there tell me so.

I'm from austin and i've fished the lake for about the last 5 years in a row with very little success! I've occassinally hooked a nice large mouth but other than that its not the best.It does have alot of (small) pan fish crappies;sunnies;bluegill but nothing of any size.Its a real shame a lake that size don;t produce.

there is a channel on the far west side were the public access is located that is the deepist part of the lake. Hope this anwsers your question?

The only times I hit it is when the water levels are high. That channel that was wrote about can be a real hot spot at those times
