tried fishing the red wing area today started at the pond next to frontnac along 61 had 2 bites after 2.5 hours and left. went to a pond between frontnac and red wing that is sopposedly filled with eepout. could see bottom through the hole 3 ft max. didnt even drop a line then went to bay point and talked to a couple people they haddent caught anything. Went to red wing pottery pond for a half hour caught about 10 sunnies 2-3 inches long and one crappie 5 inches long. then went to taco johns

on the red wing pottery pond is the deepest point in front of the dock or is thier a hole somewheres else found 4 ft everywhere around the dock and 8 right in front of the dock

Is thier anywhere to go catch some northern or walleye around thier. any insight to the pond between frontnac and red wing its right along 61 it is about half the length of frontnac pond.

I stopped by Frontenac Station Sunday to ask the girl behind the counter what the heck everyone is fishin for along highway 61. Every weekend when me and my friend go fly fishing down S.E. we see a ton of shacks behind the gas station. The girl was very coy and said all that is caught is a buzz, but something in the way she said it makes me suspicious. I know this doesn't answer your question but thought I would pass it along to you.

If you're looking for walters, you might want to check out Old Frontenac or perhaps trailer park point in Lake City. There's a public access to Lake Pepin in Old Frontenac. A few hundred yards directly out from that landing, you will usually find some locals working on what can be a farely consistent evening bite. Proceed with caution, as the ice can be quite variable. Foot travel or ATV's are the way to go. I have yet to fish this area this year, so that's about all I can give you.

Same with the main point in Lake City. I sit on my parents couch and watch a handful of portables moving about on most weekends. They usually work the upstream side of the point.

Frontenac pond is filled with 'gills and has some northerns in there. I fished it one time for about an hour before xmas and got a 26" pike running tip ups. Some other guys were out gill fishing and said they have had luck with some nicer fish. I guess the northern fishing has been slow all year though.

As for trailer park point, it has been on and off this year. We had more luck early this year, but haven't been out much since xmas. There was a guy fishing it yesterday, but I know the ice is changing because there is getting to be some open water off of the point.

Ok, here is the deal with Frontenac Pond (the one behind the gas station). The fishing has been really slow. The sunnies are smaller, and there are some crappie. There are northerns' in it, but like i said it has been fished hard. If you are going to fish it i would use a tip up and go about two feet below the ice. normally the northern prowl right below the ice, but not this year; they have been prowling just above the weeds. The lake is very shallow between 4-7 feet is where most everyone fishes. If you are going to fish it i would go when there is not alot of traffic. the fish spook very easy on the lake. hope this helps. As far as the lake north of frontenac just south of red wing on the riverside of the road' don't waste your time. nothing in it. good luck

There’s critters out and about.  Get yourself some cellular trail cams and you’ll see.

It wouldn't be the first time I've heard the USS Skunked Again breaking ice! I left this morning, the rain really did a number to the ice. I'll bet the Partridge River will be open by the weekend.

My yard is pretty open, but narrow. I think I'll be fine with reception in the areas I'm thinking. I try to keep the hill somewhat natural, but my wife wants to see the lake better. The video's I've watched, they have topped the trees and mounted the dish. I would this the swaying would affect the signal. Does Starlink help you with using WiFi for calling? My T-Mobile service sux at the cabin. Did you bury your cable?

I'm on the wide part of the channel going in to Black Bay. We won't see Paul B. For years.

Welcome back. Wow it's been since 2018 it looks like. Did you ever "I'm tightening up my footprint and want to build on my Bozeman lot on the Gallatin"?  😏

You're probably right. This isn't official since I've already lost, but I'll make my supplemental guess for May 6th since it's still open. 😄   As long as I can snake my way along the shore and/or plow through some dark ice on the 8th, I'll be happy. I love aluminum boats!

For all of my "problems" with getting a clear signal it's worth it. I can spend more time at the lake because I can work during the day and play or get things done at night. Toss in that I can record and watch a football/hockey/basketball game when I'm done at the end of the day....priceless.   Like your place, our property is more natural and I was worried about having to cut down a bunch of trees. I like that people have to get up close to see our place from the lake through the trees. Luckily I didn't have to do much to get enough a signal that works for me. If I needed to be on video calls, I probably would run the dish down to the shore to get a better view of the sky.   BTW - the main problem with mounting the dish on a tree is that the tree still has a canopy that will block the signal. The best option would be to top a tree and then mount it on the clear-cut top.
