Me and my buddy went out this week. We were looking for bluegills, crappies, and northerns and we found them. We ended up catching alot of fish. We had fun doing it. I wanted to share some pictures with you.

Nice job finding the fish Up north... We have a cabin in Grand Rapids and we are planning some more trip up to "drivable ice", hopefully we can find some fish like yours.

Hoyt--your picture reminds me of a nasty wrestler and football star at Grand Rapids a few years ago.

Hoyt,

I was wondering how the ice is. I have a lot on Tank lake near Goodland and I am thinking of coming up and I would like to know thick the ice is. Have you been on a smaller lake in that area and if so how thick was the ice?

Oh by the way nice fish it looks like you guys had fun. smile.gif

Thanks,

Mike

Most lakes have decent ice. You can drive on most lakes. I have found anywhere from 10" to 18" on lakes. But like always proceed with caution. I always make it a rule not to be the first one driving out on any lake. This year has been screwy. So be careful and have fun.

Thanks for the info. I'm with ya when it comes to driving on the ice. I always wait for someone else to show the way.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
