whats the scoop on this lake? I drove past it yesterday and saw approximately 10 clams out there? Whats biting out there and I've had friends tell me they've caught nice slab panfish in the summer? Also is there an access because I saw everyone parked along the road before the bridge. Thanks

The main access on Victoria down on the south end. There is also a small neighborhood access off Knut street....Most will park along Hwy 27 and walk out to the break line. There are two or three permanent shaks...rest use portables, or...if it hits 40 by Wednesday...just put on the sun screen and sit on the ice.

thanks ghotierman whats all in victoria besides sunfish, would I have any luck for northerns with tip up and are the sunfish of any size? is anyone going to be out there is upcoming weekend?

a tip up would entice a nice pike or two...Victoria traditionally gives up a lunker walleye or two as well...in the nearly 11 years i've been here, Victoria will put out at least one 8-10 lb walleye each year....not much for numbers...but they're there.

I noticed there were no ATV's out there, is the ice not thick enough or should I just play it by the weather for this weekend.

There have been a few taking ATV's out. But usually guys just walk and pull their gear from the road. I notice yesterday it looks like an ATV plowed a path from the SE arm all the way to one of the shaks off hwy 27. Snowmobile or ATV is okay, but I would definately not trust it for regular vehicle.

Ya, 120.00 sux. I have Access Broadband, they just raised their rate from 50.00 to 75.00. I'm lucky to get 3 to 5 mbts up or down, sometimes I'll get better. In fairness to them, they have been great trying to respond to my needs, but just can't improve my service. They said that they doubt I'll ever be able to stream a Wild game. I just purchased a new streaming box and it buffers none stop. With the new streaming box and the referral discount, I'll be able to cancel Sling, so, I'll save about 10.00 on my monthly bill. That's what I told my wife 😀 it's true...

That's a better price than when I bought a few years ago. I pulled the giant box across the ice on an old Radio Flyer sled late winter.   Good luck. You'll enjoy Starlink, except for paying the bill. Mine was originally $100/mo, then $110/mo, then they said I was in a low usage area so they dropped my bill to $90/mo for the last two years. I just got a letter a month or so ago saying that we are now in a "high usage" area so they raised it to $120/mo.

I did the app thing. The best place is the middle of my yard and that's not going to happen. I have a tripod stand and a "J" type stand. I've also looked at trimming some trees for a better view of the sky. Once I get it, I'll have to try different areas. Maybe I'll have to hire a guy to climb my tree and install it- I've seen YouTube videos on that. Middle of my roof looks to be somewhat clear, but I don't like to put holes in the shingles. Plus, it's a 12/12 pitch and I don't have Velcro shoes. If anyone is looking to buy Starlink, it's on sale till 4/30 at $159.00. If you do buy it, I can give to a referral code and we'll both get a free month.

With the current conditions and weather forecast I would still stick to Sunday, May 4th.  I almost guarantee Vermilion will be ice-free by the opener on May 10th.  Very likely someone on the list will have the correct date.

Black Bay began opening yesterday afternoon. I could see ice moving around in the middle.

I've got it too. It works great if you can get a clear view of the sky, works decent if there are blockages. I had to take down two trees and still have branches that reach out and interrupt.   Some people have their dish mounted on shore which probably helps a lot. You can download the Starlink app and then walk around your property. It will assess any spot to see if you'll get enough coverage.

I've seen them at the Cub in Minnetonka and just a few weeks ago, the Cub in Chanhassen. The little smelt, smaller than sardines.
