Got back last night from the pond. We tried to "get away from the crowds" and head deep into flat country to try some new waters. Headed out from Red Door and drove to Bombeck. From there we took the ATV and headed to Eileen's flat. We picked up 3 Eye's at 15-16" and one decent sized Perch in a few hours of moving and searching. Missed a few light bite's. 30 feet was were we saw all of our action. Very slow for us overall. Quite a few lookers and sniffers out there. Nothing on top at dusk so we moved back ito the rocks on the North end around 22 feet for an hour around 8pm and I pickd up a 12" pounder? Perch! Yes, at night! This Jumbo had a much bigger girth than our Walleyes. Anyone ever catch a perch after dark before? Side note my LX-5 was simply amazing! Set at Narrow beam side by side with my buddies LX-3 and I could tune out his lures from my screen.

Check out my pictures on the "roll call" post for a 13 1/2"er that was as big as some eyes I kept. The perch was packed with eggs as big as a pop can. When we hooking up to chase some eyes?

Hey 18 inch crappie, ...I'll keep in touch. Looks like I'll be up in two weeks. We'll have to share some notes from the fall bite.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
