bill dance, but the late virgill ward would be number one. al linder would also be right in the running.

I will take the obvious pick around here, Al Lidner. Im sure I will get several people to say I 2nd that and 3rd and so on. Hands down Al rocks.

I think it would be a blast to fish a day down south with Hank Parker. I love bass fishing and it would be a lot of fun to hear some of his stories from back in the day. Some of the new guys on the BASS tour would be fun but I have not seen them enough to recognize their names just yet.

Bill Dance. He is always good for a couple laughs/bloopers.

I think that the real question is, What pro would fish with me? smirk.gif Al would be my first choice. ( Head bowed towards Brainerd.) My second choice would be Northlander. Now that he's a big media star and all. cool.gif

Without a doubt Bill Meisakomer (yeah, I know I butchered his name) so I could throw the obnoxious SOB overboard when he started telling me how to fight my muskie! For a more enjoyable and informative day, I'd go with Al as well:)

Joe Bucher or James Linder!!

The obvious Al Linder whom I have had the pleasure of speaking to at a few different boat landings. And Tommy Skarlis because he always seems to be smiling

Al Linder for the eyes and for the pannies Crappie Tom. I would include Matt Johnson but Im going with him this week. All very smart fisherman.

Keith Kavajecz would be my choice. I use to work with Keith when he was a programmer at IBM here in Rochester and before he really knew how to fish. No I did not have a hand in teaching him the finer points of walleye fishing.

I do know that he caught on very quickly and gave up a good job to go out on the walleye circuit.

Even though I've been fishing walleye since high school, 1962, I am sure he could teach me many good things.

If it were a tv guy, I would pick Al Lindner, hands down. That guy just knows fish, sometimes better than they know themselves I think!

If it were an FM Pro-staffer, I'd have to go with Team Otter. It seems he's fished walleyes from south to north and from east to west in this state, and would be very informative at how to locate walleyes any time of the day, any time of the year.

Anyone, there all better than me.

I wouldn't mind fishing with the guy from Infirshman Critical Concepts, Doug Stanke ? maybe? Anywho, he seems to catch a variety of fish under a wide range of conditions and in differnt areas.

Posted

Changed my mind, TONY DEAN, hands down.

Posted

Tred Barta so I could punch him in the neck. cool.gif

Man is he annoying.

If I wanted to actually fish with someone I guess it would be Van Dam. He just seems like a guy that you could tolerate being around for a nice long day on the water. There are other pros that might be interesting to fish with, but to try and spend a day with someone that has a huge ego would suck.

Can I pick two. Al would be 1st pick to fish with, John Gillespie would be fun to drown a minnow and have a few beers with!

Posted

I would pick Kent Herbek. He has a relatively new fishing and hunting show on cable TV. I have always wanted to meet him.

CrewCab

Mine would be rick clunn, have him show me his secrets on those big lunker bass. My second would be Jimmy Houston.

Posted

I would like to fish with either Kevin Vandam or Mike Iaconelli....2 of the best Bass fishermen on the Bass circuit today....full of energy and knowledge beyond my belief......wow

No doubt!

I think that Fish Fishburn would be good time. Remember "Team Grandma"?

Mr "Tiller" Pete Harsh!!

Mike Iaconelli, I know of a floating bog I could stuff his lifeless body under. smirk.gif

Al linder He has been my fishing idol ever since I was little tyke. Second choice would be Roland Martin a genius at bass fishing.

Posted

I've been tryin to get out with that Dennis Steele guy!

Al Lindner is my choice too. I met him and Dan Sura at Gander Mtn. It was really cool to chat with them. Real personable. My other choices, in no order, would be Roland Martin, Kevin Vandam, and Jimmy Houston. I grew up imitating Martin bringing in fish "oh son". Kvd because I like his style of fishing. Jimmy because what a fun person to be around, very down to earth.

Posted

Mike "Basspunk" Iaconnelli.

High energy, arse-kickin' angler. That and he ticks EVERY G.O.B. on the tour off. Gotta love the new era! Well, you don't gotta, but he's to BASS what Dale Jr. is to NASCAR...the future.

"NEEEEVER GIIIIIIVE UUUUUP!!!"

Posted

I'd have to go musky fishing with Pete Maina or ice fish some walleyes with Doug Stange.

Posted

I grew up around Brainerd so it would have to be Jimmy Linder or Mr. Walleye Gary Roach. I have met both of them and they are extremely nice people. Or maybe one of the old Nisswa Guides named Al or Ron.

Posted

Butch Furtman,Minnesota born and raised from Da North country.

Next would be Tred Barta ,just because he anoyse everyone and does it his way regaurdless of how it is preceived to be done.

Hey if you want to follow the crowd, you wallow around by the crowd.Do it your own way and no one will be next to you!

Ya, 120.00 sux. I have Access Broadband, they just raised their rate from 50.00 to 75.00. I'm lucky to get 3 to 5 mbts up or down, sometimes I'll get better. In fairness to them, they have been great trying to respond to my needs, but just can't improve my service. They said that they doubt I'll ever be able to stream a Wild game. I just purchased a new streaming box and it buffers none stop. With the new streaming box and the referral discount, I'll be able to cancel Sling, so, I'll save about 10.00 on my monthly bill. That's what I told my wife 😀 it's true...

That's a better price than when I bought a few years ago. I pulled the giant box across the ice on an old Radio Flyer sled late winter.   Good luck. You'll enjoy Starlink, except for paying the bill. Mine was originally $100/mo, then $110/mo, then they said I was in a low usage area so they dropped my bill to $90/mo for the last two years. I just got a letter a month or so ago saying that we are now in a "high usage" area so they raised it to $120/mo.

I did the app thing. The best place is the middle of my yard and that's not going to happen. I have a tripod stand and a "J" type stand. I've also looked at trimming some trees for a better view of the sky. Once I get it, I'll have to try different areas. Maybe I'll have to hire a guy to climb my tree and install it- I've seen YouTube videos on that. Middle of my roof looks to be somewhat clear, but I don't like to put holes in the shingles. Plus, it's a 12/12 pitch and I don't have Velcro shoes. If anyone is looking to buy Starlink, it's on sale till 4/30 at $159.00. If you do buy it, I can give to a referral code and we'll both get a free month.

With the current conditions and weather forecast I would still stick to Sunday, May 4th.  I almost guarantee Vermilion will be ice-free by the opener on May 10th.  Very likely someone on the list will have the correct date.

Black Bay began opening yesterday afternoon. I could see ice moving around in the middle.

I've got it too. It works great if you can get a clear view of the sky, works decent if there are blockages. I had to take down two trees and still have branches that reach out and interrupt.   Some people have their dish mounted on shore which probably helps a lot. You can download the Starlink app and then walk around your property. It will assess any spot to see if you'll get enough coverage.

I've seen them at the Cub in Minnetonka and just a few weeks ago, the Cub in Chanhassen. The little smelt, smaller than sardines.
