I was out this morning in 15' of water and did good for sunnies and crappies. They were not huge but plentiful. Caught about 35 sunnies and 20 crappies. Waxies seemed to be the best bait. I did get a few on small minnows. The ice was 10" were I was fishing. Got out with the 4 wheeler. Slush not to bad most has froze up but the ride is ruff.

I went out to North Center on Friday night. Rough ice is an understatement. I made the mistake of towing my trailer behind the wheeler. In the interest of not knocking a tire off the rim, I don't think I broke 7 miles an hour once.

Thanks for the report. Is there any access to the lake other than the public access?

There used to be a guy on the north end that let people on for a donation. As of last year I think he stopped allowing people on, people started to rut up his road and he said that 75% of people wouldn't even through in a buck. I can make a call and see if he is allowing access.

      So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

      Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

      I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

      A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

      Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.
