Has anyone been catching fish on Howard Lake at all this winter?

I personally haven't heard of any reports out of that lake this winter yet - good or bad. Howard is a lake where you know the fish are out there but they can be tough to find and get to bite. I did notice that there was between ten and fifteen houses out there yesterday afternoon though. Last year I gave it a try a few times with only limited success for crappies. My buddy and I have been talking about teaming up, dilling the heck out of an area and attempting to locate some larger schools some day just to prove to ourselves that good fishing does exist in that lake.

I ran into a guy on Clearwater a few weeks ago that lives near Howard and he said there was a big crappie die-off this summer. Anyone else know anything about this?

My brother and I caught some small walleyes on the east side of the lake a couple weeks ago right around dark in 14-18 feet of water. They were fun to catch, but everything was 8-12 inches long. I have also heard of a few northerns being speared on the northwest side of the lake in about 8 feet of water. Panfish action has been slow ever since the flood a couple years ago. We did have real good action on Rock Lake. Crappies, sunfish, even a couple nice walleyes.
