Is there any good shorefishing for walleyes near chaska? I used to shorefish on the mississippi near red wing and always had good luck drifting a jig.

There is a city park just upstream from the hwy 41 bridge that you can get to from the south end of cedar st. Chaska Creek flows in to the river there and downsteam by the bridge there is some rip rap. These are both good spots to try.

Regarding your post of 1/7, TBone1 (I only just saw it tonight because we just got back from three weeks in Florida --- my son and I took a charter out of Ft. Lauderdale on Jan.16 and in the space of two hours from 7:30 to 9:30 am we had doubles sailfish twice, so we caught a total of 4 sailfish (all about 7 feet to the tip of the bill, 65 pounds, released)-- captain said he'd never seen anything like it! but I digress ...), with the warmth this week I'd like to maybe get out Saturday to that place in Chaska you were talking about. Would you mind e-mailing me with a little more information, Or, for that matter, email me if you want with some information about anywhere where there might be productive open water within maybe an hour or so of the metro area. My e-mail is [email protected] Thanks a ton TBone1, or anyone else that reads this post and has some tips for me. I am new to FM (posted twice last fall) and I promise if I go I will post my results. FM is absolutely awewsome !! I'll bet it is the biggest fishing forum in the country and everyone is so involved and posts so much which, of course, is what makes it so good. An incredible on-going discussion of everything there is to know about fishing in MN! I've lived and fished for 19 years in MN and I am only now getting to know the FM fellowship. A great 2006 to you all ... donmc (I put that stupid display name when I was registering and didn't know any better. I would rather be known as "sansocks" but they won't let me change it! Another time I'll tell the story behind "sansocks.")

Welcome to the forum donmc (maybe we can figure out a way to change your user name to sansocks)

The area your talking about would be pretty slow right now but at the right time of year with good river conditions, its a very good area. The river is just gonna have to wait for awhile but I'd be glad to show you a couple of spots this spring.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭
    • leech~~
Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
