Hey I was wondering if there is another access closer to that side or just the one right in town there? Do the panfish have any size?

Never,

Are you fishing the bars on the larger end of the lake? When have you found it to be the best bit. I have the day off and may drive up this friday. I have a 2 hr drive so I would like to time things a bit. Any general bits you can share?

Collapsi, according to my map there are two others access's, one is at Battle Point and the other one is close to Head of the Lakes.

I may hit osakis this saturday. I have only fished it in the summer so I would be relying on some help with areas to start with. What do you plan on targeting? I would like to get out and chase some of the panfish during the day and walleyes later in the afternoon .

styx, that sounds good to me, that sounds like a game plan. but I'm not sure what part of the lake is the hot spot at the moment. I wouldn't mind going up there saturday either.

Was out there on the north end last sunday afternoon. EXTREMELY slow bite, gotta workem' hard to snag one. has it picked up at all?? confused.gif

Was up last weekend,13-15 it was real slow, 1 walleye, a few perch and one nice northern lost. Had him halfway through when he bit my line off, my buddy had his hands on him but he slipped through. He caught a 31 incher on Mille Lacs 2 weeks ago and said this one was just as big. Still a good time, just wish we had a picture.

We were up there this last weekend friday and sat. and we got a lot of action both nights but only ended up with one walleye we could keep on sun. morning. But we ended up going through 2 dozen shiners and a scoop of fat heads. We found that 26' to 27' feet was the ticket.

Sunday morning caught three walleyes near Battle Pt. then went up to the north end for pannies. Boy did they not cooperate. Could get them to get off the bottom, but they didn't want to bite anything. Oh well. Then went to Big Sauk and caught 15 keepers.

I am headed up to Osakis on Friday, but have never fished it. We have a group of four renting a house for 2 days, and are looking to fish sunnies as well as walleye.

Can someone give me an idea on where and what depth you have found the sunnies? I seen mention of the north end of the lake, but if I could have a depth idea that would be much appreciated.

was there this weekend didnt catch much on the north end for sunnies if your going go in 28 ft of water for sunnies. Another option is spearing of going for northern in the shallows

Was out on Sat. afternoon/evening on the north end by the narrows. Tried different depths for panfish and only managed tiny ones. I did manage three northerns on tip-ups with a sucker. Water is clear you can sight fish in 8-10 FOW.

When I was deer hunting last fall, the obvious explosion of wildlife then was evident then too.  I saw over 50 deer, 20+ turkeys, and too many pheasants to count in a week.  Nothing has changed.  These mild fake winters have to be playing a big role in survival.  And if we get another good reproductive cycle in June, I would expect another booming fall season.

Ya, 120.00 sux. I have Access Broadband, they just raised their rate from 50.00 to 75.00. I'm lucky to get 3 to 5 mbts up or down, sometimes I'll get better. In fairness to them, they have been great trying to respond to my needs, but just can't improve my service. They said that they doubt I'll ever be able to stream a Wild game. I just purchased a new streaming box and it buffers none stop. With the new streaming box and the referral discount, I'll be able to cancel Sling, so, I'll save about 10.00 on my monthly bill. That's what I told my wife 😀 it's true...

That's a better price than when I bought a few years ago. I pulled the giant box across the ice on an old Radio Flyer sled late winter.   Good luck. You'll enjoy Starlink, except for paying the bill. Mine was originally $100/mo, then $110/mo, then they said I was in a low usage area so they dropped my bill to $90/mo for the last two years. I just got a letter a month or so ago saying that we are now in a "high usage" area so they raised it to $120/mo.

I did the app thing. The best place is the middle of my yard and that's not going to happen. I have a tripod stand and a "J" type stand. I've also looked at trimming some trees for a better view of the sky. Once I get it, I'll have to try different areas. Maybe I'll have to hire a guy to climb my tree and install it- I've seen YouTube videos on that. Middle of my roof looks to be somewhat clear, but I don't like to put holes in the shingles. Plus, it's a 12/12 pitch and I don't have Velcro shoes. If anyone is looking to buy Starlink, it's on sale till 4/30 at $159.00. If you do buy it, I can give to a referral code and we'll both get a free month.

With the current conditions and weather forecast I would still stick to Sunday, May 4th.  I almost guarantee Vermilion will be ice-free by the opener on May 10th.  Very likely someone on the list will have the correct date.

Black Bay began opening yesterday afternoon. I could see ice moving around in the middle.

I've got it too. It works great if you can get a clear view of the sky, works decent if there are blockages. I had to take down two trees and still have branches that reach out and interrupt.   Some people have their dish mounted on shore which probably helps a lot. You can download the Starlink app and then walk around your property. It will assess any spot to see if you'll get enough coverage.

I've seen them at the Cub in Minnetonka and just a few weeks ago, the Cub in Chanhassen. The little smelt, smaller than sardines.
