I'm thinking of going to Hay Creek on Sunday for some early season fly fishing (since it's warm) and am looking for some fly recommendations. I'm planning on bringing out the Pink Squirels, any others?

Orange scuds, PTs, midges

Yep. size 14 orange scuds. size 12-14 prince nymphs. size 16-18 (heck, even size 20) PT's.

Midges are great to throw on as a trailer to a larger fly. I fished a zebra midge (black thread, silver ribbing, glass bead) size 18-20 behind a scud and got some strikes on that. I highly recommend fishing a two-fly rig. Use a little weight to get the flies down.

Well finally got out there, although nothing of size hit my PT this little fella came out to play. A bit cold as it was around 15F when this guy was caught. WinterTrout.jpg
