pomroy lake

Anybody been out? I have never been on the lake but I am thinking about getting out there tomorrow. Any tips?

Today was the first time I was on Pomroy. Lots of little perch, a few small sunnies, and one small northern. Saw one other small northern caught. Most people left by mid afternoon. We stayed until dark. Did you make it out and if so, how did you do?

I was gooing to go out today but plans have changed. I am going out Wednesday. I have never been up to the lake. How is the ice? How far of a pull is it to the deeper water?

Any eyes in the lake?

Looking at the dnr it looks ok, but I have some friends who have told me otherwise.

Never heard anything about 'eyes in Pomroy, just some panfish and northern. Size usually depends on winter kill.

We chose Pomroy strictly because of the DNR web site. It looked too good not to try. However, the locals had another story. I guess the fishing was great for eyes the summer of 04. Last summer it was lousy, as it was for us. One guy said the DNR surveyed it last fall. Apparently the web site isn't updated yet. Another told us he thought it froze out 4-5 years ago. It's 1/4 mile from the access to the deep(10') water. The ice is about 12-13" and good as soon as you get about 1-2" through the frozen slush. There are maybe 8 houses out. Most looked like spear houses. We started right over the "deep water" and tried the north and south sides of it. Like I said in my last post, a lot of people came and went while we were there. Not a good sign.
