Buffalo Ice Condition

Just wondering what the ice is like right now on Buffalo. I haven't been out since the last snow fall and would like to fish near the sandbar or the hole. Is it down to a walking situation, or can a guy get out on his wheeler?

I'm still walking out but have seen many 4-wheelers all over the lake. Talk caution and use your best judgement...

I was still walking out to the hole, too, as of 'esterday, but I think I'll be using the snowmobile now, as long as it doesn't thaw out again like last week. There'a lots of ATVs and snowmobiles out. Buffalo ice is some of the thicker around the area. It's really rough in the high traffic areas, tho, everyone's slush tracks have frozen up. Lot's of prime real estate left out there over the hole, still...

Was out there last sat. there was 10" - 11". Typical 5" of good 5" of Bad. Went out with the 4 wheeler on the north side.

Is the "hole" the 33 ft hole ? I have been fishing in 20 ft off the courthouse shoreline. Its a heck of a haul to that hole, are there walleyes there??

Try a little farther past the group of houses by the courthouse...It gets shallower. I started out by the group of houses with no luck and kept moving around and I ran into some nice crappies in 16 ft. today. Kept 6 for dinner. All 6 were between 10 1/2"-11 1/4". Released maybe a dozen that were smaller.
