Bassboy,

There are several techniques, lures, presentations and locations that can be used when targeting 'eyes through the ice. But, for this time of year, I would focus on the deeper ends of main lake points, mid-lake structure, or any weed lines that may still be around. Low light periods are typically the best times to have your lines in the water but that doesn't mean fish can't be put on the ice during the day. Jigging spoons and minnow heads are popular lures as is "dead sticking" (slip bobber and plain hook tipped with a whole minnow).

In addition to this general information, you can do some snooping around in this forum for earlier posts that relate to ice fishing 'eyes. There is also a lot of good information in the Ice Fishing Category of this web site.

That's pretty much the areas/structure I was planning to fish on the 14th at the get-together. That's the technique I'll be using too....jigging spoon w/ minnow head in my hand and deadstick up a couple feet from bottom for my other line which I'll place nearby where I'm jigging. Deitz D. suggested this in the walleye forum to me, so that's what I'm planning to do. Can't wait to give it a go.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
