Anyone know where I can find out the oil to gas mixture for a Jiffy auger?

24:1. I like to use the little bottles of oil that Jiffy puts out. They have Stabil already added it is a smokeless oil (still smokes some but not too bad) and it is the exact amount you need for 1 gal of gas to mix a 24:1 ratio.

I believe they are all 24:1. If your mixing 1 gallon you need 5 to 6 oz of oil.

As long as we are on this subject, whats your guy's take on the oil bottles that are 50-1 synthetic that say they replace all other oil mix ratios? Is this safe or is this just another payment waiting to happen?

I switched my Strikemaster to the Amsoil 100-1 synthetic this year and she sure starts easier, runs smoother and doesn't spit out so much like she did on the regular two cycle oil.

I use the synthetic at Fleet Farm that says it is good for all mix ratios. So far I have used it in the weedeater, chainsaw and auger with no issues. The label says it has a stabilizer in it too. It is by the chainsaws and also in the marine section I think. It has a picture of a lumberjack on it.

Wave runner has got it right,Amsoil 100 to one is the way to go, I mix mine 80 to one, run it in a old 70 h.p. johnson, stiel chain saw, weed whip and ice auger, which is a old task about 20 plus years old, really is nice to only have one gas can for mixed fuel, by the way I use only premiun gas, no alachol. I was also wondering why I can;t post new topics, maybe I did somrthing wrong or forgot how?

Hook, thats the stuff I use. Chainsaw, weedwacker and auger. It is nice to have ONE mixed gas can.

I just started running Amsoil in all my 2 strokes. (Auger and chain saw so far) I mixed it at 100:1. I am using Amsoil Sabre Professional. The difference in startability and smoke is amazing. The motors seem to have way more zip to them too.

I should have made the switch years ago.

Can anybody refer me too what store to by this amzoil at. I have looked in the sporting good stores here in Mankato, can not find it, only the strike master oil. I was told by and employee not to use it in my new jiffy 2 hp auger because the jiffy is geared too low for this kind of oil. Any advise from FM that I can get. Thanks

While I don't personally agree with using a 100:1 mix ratio it should make any difference if it is in a Jiffy or Strikemaster. But actually the Jiffy is higher gear for 12 motor revolutions the bit spins once a 12:1 gear ratio. Strikemaster's motor turns 25 times for 1 bit revolution or 25:1 it is a slow turning bit. But the motors are the exact same. The gearing in the motor is the same the gear box is where the gearing of the auger takes place and those are a sealed box that you can't add anything to. If you do it would be gear lube or grease. My old Jiffy did have a grease zerk on the gear box but my new stealth is seal no zerk. Amzoil has a web page with a bunch of Frequently asked questions might answer your questions. You can also buy the oil direct from them. I would guess the would have a dealer listing as well.

Most Napa Stores carry the Saber Professional. Not all Amsoil dealers carry it or even know what it is. I found this out earlier this winter as I drove around looking for it.

I bought mine at a Napa store on Highway 5 in Eden Praire. A guy that works there is a dealer. It seems expensive but when you consider how little oil you use a little bottle lasts a while. Its worth the investment IMHO.

One comment I would have is that I would mix it richer for the break in period of a new engine.. 60:1 or 80:1 is probably good. I have had no issues with 100:1. I have run 3+ gallons through an auger and chainsaw in a short amount of time. Granted these motors are both over three years old and have been run for MANY hours before being switched to Amsoil.

my eskimo shark 51cc auger runs 24:1 so are you telling me I can run it 100:1 with amsoil? isnt that too rich? I mixed 75:1 on accident with some over the counter brand and the auger bogged down and died every time I have it gas

You mean lean. Thats 100 parts gas to one part oil. When I asked the question about using these types of oils I didn't mean for this to be a Amzoil is best thread. My question was is it safe to run a motor that is listed for 24:1 at a leaner ratio with the higher quality synthetic oils?

100-1 would be leaner "less oil" I am not a big fan of 100-1 mixtures especially not in an outboard, but it sounds like many are having success with there small engines.

So with a better oil you could go 50 or 75-1 with no problems IMO.

Double check your math it does sound like you were too rich.

mnvikingsfreak...I was actually on the phone with Eskimo a few weeks ago and they say to now run the Sharks at 50:1. They have tested them and found that they run better at 50:1. The customer service lady I talked to told me this and then I also talked to a tech guy to verify it and he said that they run better at 50:1 with regular oil. They sent me a new gas cap and it also says 50:1 on the cap. When I burn up this gallon of gas I have left I'm going to be running the Amsoil Saber at 100:1.

I never did find the Amsoil Saber locally (Andover/Blaine area). Most of the places I stopped did have the Amsoil 50:1 version by pints but everyone was saying to use the Saber. I also found another foil package that said 100:1 but haven't tried it (can't remember the brand) and probably won't now that I have the Saber.

I finally went on line and ordered direct. I have had my auger running in the garage and it sure seems to be running smooth and alot less smoky.

This whole idea of running a 100:1 mix and getting less smoke in the fishhouse is appealing, but I'm still leery of burning it up. What kind of results are people getting with this AMZOIL?

Here is the skinny, I have ran this for a few years now in my chainsaw, weedwhip,ice auger.

I use a product called Echo, 3 oz. per gallon.

My machines run super, this oil was design for lawncare

people, to eliminate all the ratios and blah blah.

Becareful though. this oil is design for aircooled

engines, not watercooled engines, tend to foul up at times on your outboard.

Very true-outboards run considerably cooler. No matter what brand you use for oil in an outboard, make sure it is rated at least TCW-II. The TCW stands for two-cylcle water cooled, and the II or III designation is merely a measure of the advancement of the quality rating. If you run TCW oil in air cooled engines you stand a chance of burning the engine up due to it's thinner properties.
