Any report on Pokegama lately? I might head out there this weekend if ice conditions are good. It'll be my first time out there so if anybody have any suggestions, please feel free to email me at [email protected]

Should be about 12 on the lake. There has been trucks driving out for 3-4 weeks now buit I wouldnt recommend it now. I drove mt car out last weekend but I will be using the wheeler this weekend because of this warm weather. Depending on what time of day you will be headed out I would try about 100 yards off the southeast corner of the island. There should be only a couple houses there. Try to find 15-19 feet of water. Last weekend I only managed 3 walleyes there and 6 perch but if you are out during the day it should produce a few nice sunnies and just after dark should produce crappies. Another spot would be on the east shore of the lake there is a bar that goes out. Its called Klapps bar. I have fished there many times also and caught a few walleys sunfish and many nice crapies. I would try 19-22 feet there. Also if you fish the island tip ups in 8-12 feet of water should produce some very nice northerns. I ususally get 3-4 flags every afternoon I go out there. Any other questions just ask!

Which access did you use? The one by the river(boat launch)?

sunkinboat..

do you ever get any cats out there during the winter? I see there is a good population by the dnr report. Also white bass in there.

No I have never gotten any winter cats there. I have caught a few open water there but never managed any in the winter. I am sure they are there but where I dont know. I sue the access off maple knoll rd. Take the first pine city exit as you are going north and take a left off the exit. Go probably 4 miles or so. When you get to the bridge take a left and go over the other bridge. Go about a mile or so and take a left on Maple Knoll rd. Keep going straight and you will run into the lake. It was still safe to drive out this weekend. There was a solid 12" everywhere I checked and there is trucks all over the lake. Sorry I dont know the names of the other roads.

Thanks for the report on the ice!How was the fish'n?

I was out on Sat. evening for a couple of hours and didn't get much. A couple of crappies and that is it. The vex showed fish down there but it was tough to get a bite. We were in 16' south of the island. The ice was at least a foot thick and some people were driving trucks. I was on a 4 wheeler.

Hey Northland,

We must have been out there at the same time. I was the one with the silver bonneville out there on the southside of the island. I probably seen ya. I managed 6 nice sunnies a couple small eyes and a few perch. I cant seem to find those (Contact US Regarding This Word) crappies.

Yeah, I think I saw you out there. When did you get the fish? We wanted to get out before sundown but didn't make it until just after dark so I think we missed the bite.

Well about an hour or so before sundown was the walleyes and perch and then the sunnies came in just half an hour or so before sundown.

Thanks for the info. It Sounds like we did miss the bite. Oh well, maybe next time.

I don't think they have fixed much

More playas bite the dust.  Probably at least 5 more by the sounds of the reports.  Gotta be at least the many so I can be out too!

Have faith. You can see progress and ice depth from previous years on the Eagle Docks FB page. They said 16 inches a day or so ago.  A few years back they had 16 inches only a week before official ice out.  60s to even 70s next weekend.  It will be gone before opener. I'm planning on docks and lifts next weekend, but I am in a small protected bay that goes out pretty early.

We need optimism right now. The small bays haven't even opened up yet, which is typically two weeks before the big bays lose their ice. The forecast is in our favor though and I see that it's windy today, also a great sign.

Go to the DMV, see if there's a serial number on it. They should be able to title it

I moved my blind right into the middle of the field after I left this morning.  It sticks out like a sore thumb on the landscape.  A friend advised me to try this.  We'll see if it works later.  I hate the way it looks without blending in, but I have to try something else.

For a long time I've been getting pop-ups and error pages where I have to back page. I just thought it was the price of playing in the old sand lot! 🤔
