Please help...Quick Metro Ice Report?

Hi all,

I just got back from a two week trip to South Asia. No ice to be found over there. I have the ice bug really bad and I need to get out tommorrow. Generally speaking, how are the ice conditions? Still safe to walk on? Thanks greatly in advance...

Hey Ben,

YEah the ice is still "safe" to walk on. You'll still find 6-8" of good ice beneith all the milky crap that was snow and slush thats frozen.

Couple of vehicles went through on Prior because they parked together on 8-9" of ice and a large permanant went through on Independance....too much weight.

Let me know if you run into anything. This wierd cloudy stagnant weather pattern has really slowed the fish down for some reason. I haven't had much luck lately.

I was on Gray's bay this morning. Ice is still about 6-8 inches thick...not really "good" ice, but definitely walkable. Are we on for tomorrow? I'll be out there on Sarah early am, till early afternoon. Still no word from Mike. Bring some of those asian delacacies along for snacks, eh?

Well, got out in the south metro area this afternoon. I was on a small lake in a big residential area. Ice was about 8 to 9" thick; 2 to 4 of that was frozen slush. Caught 25 to 30 bluegills, 15 to 20 crappies, a 13" bass, and a 13" 'eye. Could've had a nice meal, but all went back to catch another day. Searched around quite abit, but 10' of water over a weed flat seemed to be the best locations...fishing was spotty till about 4:00, then basically nonstop. What a great day to be out.

Powerstroke: my phone is out of commission, so shoot me an email if you want to do some fishing on the evenings of this coming week.

Headin out to Red Rock right now. Me and a buddy. Look for an old yellow snomobile and I might set up my Frabil for sight fishing.
