if you head out there and makes sure that you bring lots of gas and the vexlar, the best way to fish it is to start at the access and head across looking for suspended fish, they can be caught on spoons and jigs, tipped this waxes, another tip i can give you is get a med or small dardevil style spoon in hammered silver and put 6 to 8" of mono with a small hook as a dropper, the spoon works real well as a flasher/attracter. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

In case you didn't know, you can't fish for stream trout until Jan 14.

Fished Long on sunday morning with no action. A local told us that the trout were moving on saturday until the wind started and has been slow since then.

How's the ice on long. My family is origionally from the area, and several relatives still live there. I spend a week there every summer, but never got there during the winter. How thick is the ice, what are you using? any info is appreciated.

P.S How about that Northern that got speared there this winter!!!! I get the independant and that thing was huge!!!

The ice was only 7-10", not quite enough for me to drive on, especially when I didn't see anyone else driving out there or any tracks. We were using waxies and crappie minnows. Check out the post by Renneberg called 'winter trout fishing' in the trout forum.
