I was just wondering if there is a good supply of shiners this year or is it better to bring some with? I know last year we had a problem getting the right shiners and the lake shiners were hard to get . We will be up there the 13th,14th, and 15th. And what is the going rate for shiners this year?

I've not heard how the shiner supply is this year. But I have heard the emerald shiners you buy at the locals up there are the way to go, seeing they are native to LOTW...

If your fishing out of Pine Island/Wheeler Point area, Adrian's resort has the shiners you need at $7.50 for a nice styrofoam cooler...cooler provided....an ample supply for two days of fishing for one....

We bring our own with us. We couldnt find 3 to 4" shiners anywhere in Baudette when we have gone in the past.

Last piece of advice, use your depth finders. The walleyes on this lake tend to suspend when you are out fishing the basin in 30 plus feet of water. Sometimes 10 to 15' off the bottom and they will bite. Most of our larger fish come this way.

There is no shortage of shiners up here this year, and you can pretty much find them at any bait shop or gas station that sells bait from Greenbush to I-Falls. Log Cabin Bait right up by Wheeler's Point is a great place to stop. Your bait won't have to travel far, and the tackle selection is mind boggling. Another added bonus the past year or so, is the off-sale liquor store Steve opened next door. One stop shopping, and you're on the ice within minutes of his door.

I don't think they have fixed much

More playas bite the dust.  Probably at least 5 more by the sounds of the reports.  Gotta be at least the many so I can be out too!

Have faith. You can see progress and ice depth from previous years on the Eagle Docks FB page. They said 16 inches a day or so ago.  A few years back they had 16 inches only a week before official ice out.  60s to even 70s next weekend.  It will be gone before opener. I'm planning on docks and lifts next weekend, but I am in a small protected bay that goes out pretty early.

We need optimism right now. The small bays haven't even opened up yet, which is typically two weeks before the big bays lose their ice. The forecast is in our favor though and I see that it's windy today, also a great sign.

Go to the DMV, see if there's a serial number on it. They should be able to title it

I moved my blind right into the middle of the field after I left this morning.  It sticks out like a sore thumb on the landscape.  A friend advised me to try this.  We'll see if it works later.  I hate the way it looks without blending in, but I have to try something else.

For a long time I've been getting pop-ups and error pages where I have to back page. I just thought it was the price of playing in the old sand lot! 🤔
