SO!

Did anyone venture out this wekend? If so, How did you do!

I was tied up most of the weekend with family gatherings, but snuck out Sunday evening for a couple of hours. Looking out my window at Rush and seeing a zoo out there we ventured to some other lakes in the area and did VERY good! Nice walleyes to be had, if you do some searching! Sorry Hooks! Tracy had my phone so I couldn't get a hold of you.

How did everyone else do?

I sent my brother out scouting for me on Sunday. I won't be home from school for another week. My brother fished all over West Rush and he didn't do very well. They fished on the edges of deep water and picked up a couple small walleyes and a dozen crappies. He saw a guy catch a 4 lb. walleye in the shallows. I will be up there on Friday looking for a place to put the permanent. We are thinking about setting up in shallow for walleyes at night and then having the portable on hand for deep water crappies during the day. Hooks showed me where his honey hole is, so I might have to make it mine. grin.gif

Cory,

Excuses, excuses grin.gif I was out all day yesterday trying to the trail groomer out of a swamp and didn't get a chance to call you back. I will call ya today sometime.

Bigfife,

Did I really tell you about my spot? Must have had too beverages lake pick-up day last year:o If it is the spot that I am thinking of, that was a crappie spot and I didn't have much luck there last year, so be sure to let me know if it starts producing this year. Be sure to let me know if you head out there and maybe I can meet ya there sometime.

Got out Sunday on a small lake outside of Cambridge. Lake is extremely shallow and clear. Hand augered a couple of holes was there for an hour. Incredible sight fishing, no electronics just drop and watch. In a hour, I had caught 6 walleyes all 16+ inches. Didn't keep any, still have a couple fish to eat from LOTW. What a fun experience. Yup, do a little exploring and you may find a honey hole. Gonna give Goose a try this weekend, I will post my results.

New to this forum thing. Moved down from Dultuh a couple years a go and I appreciate reading the input on local lakes. I do a lot of pond hopping looking for lakes with little pressure and good fishing. I will post any findings.

Thanks again

I also have some good contacts and knowledge of lakes up north. Feel free to ask if heading that way.

What areas do you have contacts in?

Lived in Duluth. Worked in Lutsen. Lead winter trips into the BWCA. Have a friend who runs dogs out of Ely that does a lot of Lake Trout fishing, mainly on Knife Lake. Fished Lake Superior. A lot of my fishing was snoshoeing in or dogsled, so a lot of lakes are hard to get to. I also have a friend who lives on Boulder Lake NE of Duluth. So I am pretty familiar with the area. Can't gurantee fish on the ice, but will offer what I know, ever little bit helps laugh.gif

Hey Canu,

Would that happen to be the lake behind northstar liquors by walmart in cambridge? I seen like 15 portables out there on Friday. I have never seen anyone fish out there.

Cory,

I was sitting by the phone waiting for your call on sunday but the spot must be to hot for you to bring amatures to I guess. I guess I will just keep waiting by the phone. lol By the way who is selling all the houses when you are out fishing? I will probablly be out this week so I will let you know how I do.

I didn't see the houses, but I got word of all them out there. The lake is called Joe's Lake and I was told the walleye action was really good. I have a friend who lives next to the lake. Would of never thought to try that lake for anything but ice skating. I may go over and try it out just to see what kind of depths it has.

The lake I was on is west of cambridge and south of hwy 95.
