I pulled my wheeler out for the season on Sunday Dec. 18. I was up at LOW the previous week. Went out of Hillman's about 5 miles. Buddy has the road out about 6. Big heaves in the road make some slow going and tough sledding off road. The snow hasn't drifted much yet because not many people are out yet. (Most appear to be in shallow for northerns?) The snow off road can be 3" in some spots to 18" in others. The change is gradual and hard to see. I got stuck pulling my wheeler a couple of times but was able to dig myself out. Watch out for slush. The heaves on the road are under the snow off road. It is bumpy. My guess is it is going to be a tough year to get away from the crowds unless you have a snowmobile or 4 wheeler. We will surely get more snow. I was only able to get about 80 yards off the main road. Got set up by about 2PM. Caught some tiny walleyes and perch right away. Then a small northern. My AquaView wouldn't work. The water is still too murky to see. At sunset the bigger walleyes hit non stop for about 1/2 hour. I wouldn't even see them on the Vexilar they just raced in and hit. Then nothing. I had to leave by 7PM so it wasn't a long time out there, but no crappies. I talked to another wheeler on my way out who had set up for the night earlier and were leaving. No crappies for them but nice walleyes. At Hillman's they said they knew 2 parties caught a few, most people nothing. Maybe the murky water? Sooner or later they will show up.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
