craguns area on Gull suggestions....

Will be at Craguns next weekend for a few days of ice fishing... I have never fished Gull in summer or winter. Are there decent spots in the area for walleyes/crappies or pike on tipups????

Any general suggestions on the lake in that area or community spots I can find?

Any help is appreciated...

Try the weed lines (usually ~17 ft in Steamboat Bay) during low light periods with a rattling spoon tipped with a minnow head for walleyes. The bite has slowed a bit with the latest cold front, but green weeds and first ice should equal a few fish for you next weekend.

I actually work at craguns, there had been a pretty good walleye bite right in front of the resort around the area of their rental houses. quite a few were caught in the 17-22 range, along with gull lakes abundance of standard 12 inchers. We had been getting them in the 20 ft range, but the bite seems to have dried up this week, you might want to try out a little deeper. Also I would try the south beach area of the resort, the weed lines in that area can produce some nice ones this time of year, and no one else has tried there yet.

Perfect...that should help me quite a bit. Any crappies in the deep channel areas there?

Thanks for the replies...I'll be up Thurs and Fri next week. Whats the closest bait store to the resort there?

your probably not going to find much for crappies on gull itself unless you get lucky. We sell bait in the marina at the resort, I will probably be working in there and i might be able to steer you towards some crappies.
