has anyone been catching fish on low looking to head up for a week. Leaving tonight. Any info would be appreciated.

Just got back. 3 of us fished over Pine for 2 days and kept a total of 21 walleye's/saugers. Slowest I think I have ever experienced on LOW. Tried every color, jig, and bait a guy could think of. "BEST" bite was from 9:00am til 10:30.

Hope your fishing is better.

I also just got back. 4 guys for two days of fishing. Caught exactly our limit and not a fish more except for a few small sauger and walleye. very tough fishing. Tried everything from 16ft of water to 26ft. Had most of our luck in the shallower water. I have to second the statement of being the slowest fishing I have ever had. Of course they said they were catching them Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday crazy.gif But thats fishing! Hopefully they should start picking up again. Saw lots of the resorts moving their houses deep this afternoon. (guessing 25-28ft) if thats any indication. Good Luck!

six of us fished sat. and sun. It was slow. Kept 14 and tossed back about the same. Most were 12 to 14 inches. One fish was 27 inches. Fish from 14,18,23,17,20 ft. didnt matter.

where are all of the fish that were 10" three years ago? we caught tons of fish in the 10 to 11 inch range. i thought this would be the year that these fish would be in the 16 to 18" range and the fishing would be outstanding. judging by the reports, the fish just are not snapping. still better than sitting at home or at work. looking forward to my trip in march. should be fun.

Did decent for the second weekend in a row. Limits but they were not easy. Best bite was in shallow from 8-9:30. Some nice eyes. Saugers were a little harder to come by for finish out the day. Caught three Sturgeon in the past two weekends. 40" 32" and monster 67". Will attempt to post pics.

I also had my slowest fishing experiance on lake of the woods. Fished friday afternoon through sunday morning, at about 26 feet, by pine island. Caught 19 walleye/sauger and 2 eel pout, 1 of which was my biggest 14 pounds. Had most of my luck on a 1/8 oz orange buckshot spoon, and a small red forage minnow about 8 inches off the bottom. The fish seemed to be hitting the dead stick on a ratio of 3:1 to the jigging rod.

Two us fished all day Friday until noon on Sunday. I would have to concure with most of the others, fishing was pretty slow compared to previous trips. We fished in the 3 mornings 730 - 1130 in shallower 17-19fow and tried one afternoon/evening in 29 fow. We did manage to bring home a limit consisting of 10 saugers and 6 walleyes 14-16". Our biggest fish was 20.5" released. Also 2 big elepout. We tried one evening in 4 mile bay and had a good run of fish and lost 1 big one in 6 fow. Fish were very finicky all week-end...I would think fishing should get better this week.

Fished Thur, Fri, Sat. Slow. Kept a 2 guy limit and threw back about 15 more. 23 feet of water. Gold and red glow spoon.

On Saturday I fished out of Pine in 21', was fairly slow most of the day, went in shallower at about 3pm, and had better luck, but nothing >15". Sunday was a different story, started shallow (18'), completely dead until 9am, then had constant action until about 10:15, mostly 15-17"ers, with 4 going between 20-24", kept 4 under 19.5" & went out to 23' to finish out my limit with saugers, which were hard to come by. Was off the lake by 2pm and headed home early for a change.

Hey Cedar Narrows Guy: We missed you at the hot dog lunch and sorry we didn't get a chance to meet you, even though we did talk to you on 7/11.. Hope to get that chance next time there's a F/M get together.. Sounds like you had better luck than we did... Take care and hope to see you "At the Lake".... Kaz smile.gif

Ya, 120.00 sux. I have Access Broadband, they just raised their rate from 50.00 to 75.00. I'm lucky to get 3 to 5 mbts up or down, sometimes I'll get better. In fairness to them, they have been great trying to respond to my needs, but just can't improve my service. They said that they doubt I'll ever be able to stream a Wild game. I just purchased a new streaming box and it buffers none stop. With the new streaming box and the referral discount, I'll be able to cancel Sling, so, I'll save about 10.00 on my monthly bill. That's what I told my wife 😀 it's true...

That's a better price than when I bought a few years ago. I pulled the giant box across the ice on an old Radio Flyer sled late winter.   Good luck. You'll enjoy Starlink, except for paying the bill. Mine was originally $100/mo, then $110/mo, then they said I was in a low usage area so they dropped my bill to $90/mo for the last two years. I just got a letter a month or so ago saying that we are now in a "high usage" area so they raised it to $120/mo.

I did the app thing. The best place is the middle of my yard and that's not going to happen. I have a tripod stand and a "J" type stand. I've also looked at trimming some trees for a better view of the sky. Once I get it, I'll have to try different areas. Maybe I'll have to hire a guy to climb my tree and install it- I've seen YouTube videos on that. Middle of my roof looks to be somewhat clear, but I don't like to put holes in the shingles. Plus, it's a 12/12 pitch and I don't have Velcro shoes. If anyone is looking to buy Starlink, it's on sale till 4/30 at $159.00. If you do buy it, I can give to a referral code and we'll both get a free month.

With the current conditions and weather forecast I would still stick to Sunday, May 4th.  I almost guarantee Vermilion will be ice-free by the opener on May 10th.  Very likely someone on the list will have the correct date.

Black Bay began opening yesterday afternoon. I could see ice moving around in the middle.

I've got it too. It works great if you can get a clear view of the sky, works decent if there are blockages. I had to take down two trees and still have branches that reach out and interrupt.   Some people have their dish mounted on shore which probably helps a lot. You can download the Starlink app and then walk around your property. It will assess any spot to see if you'll get enough coverage.

I've seen them at the Cub in Minnetonka and just a few weeks ago, the Cub in Chanhassen. The little smelt, smaller than sardines.
