With all of the things going on in Walleyedan's world, I hadn't been able to make it out on the ice. It was driving me crazy to see everyones posts and see everyone out on the lakes. This is something that I have always lived for (first ice), and last night I FINALLY got my fix. I only fished for about one hour, but that was enough because I had good action for about 25 minutes and I kept enough for tonights dinner. I was on Gull in about 29 ish feet and caught them on a jigging spoon tipped with a fathead head. It was a good feeling. 5.5-9 inches conservatively. I actually drove my pick-up along the shore for a short distance (don't do it)! On my way home, I saw a car or truck making the run out towards the middle of Round Lake.

Have a good day,

Dan,

Did you get the rest of your houses out of storage with out further mishaps?

I have a guy that works with me ask about house rentals in our area for the week of February 20th and I told him about you. I know that this is pushing the end of the season so fishing maybe ?? Or maybe you will have them off already?

They would probably be looking at doing something during the week, over night one night. It would be probably 6 people that you would need to accomidate.

He is having a friend and his family coming to visit from Georgia and they have never been on a frozen lake in their lives.

Is this something that would interest you?

Let me know.

Good morning Brett,

The houses are still locked in, I haven't touched them since I wrecked the one. I talked to a guy last night that said he knows a guy with a bobcat that would be willing to do it today, we'll see!! Two are sold, so I have to get them out of there. I would be happy to try and set your friends up in a house or two, have them email me please. Hopefully the fish will bite all winter. It has been pretty darn good thus far. I had my first guided trip last night in the wicked wind and the fish were biting. I had to tie my Grand Caravan portable to my four wheeler so it wouldn't blow away. "Ice Mites Rule"!!!

Take Care,

Hey Dan,

Hope that it works out for you. Like I said before, if you get in a bind and need a hand just give me a call...829-3345.

I hope I can get out this weekend, I am anxious to try out the new shelter, I think I might try it on Gull somewhere within walking distance from G.P. or on Upper White Fish, I can't wait!!

I will forward this post to my friend and have him email you about setting something up.

Thanks.

Will we see you practice or do you have clients today?

Go Ice Mites !!

Thanks again Brett,

I will let you know if I need a hand. I am booked today, but it doesn't include fishing unfortunately. I fished with my neighbor last night (just met him), and he was so excited about our trip that he wants to fish as much as possible while the bite lasts but I'm thinking tomorrow will have to do!! See you at practice.

Dan, My nephew Shane R. invited my son fishing for Saturday. The question is do you know where his house is and do they have safe access to it . Early ice is great but I like to be cautious. Brainerd Hockey rules.

Hi Dean,

Yes, I got a call from Shane last night when I was on a trip and I told him that the house is stuffed back behind some others and I personally can't do anything until I get help. You are a builder, do you have access to a Bobcat? If so, please call (218-839-5598) and let me know. Long story about the houses getting stuffed back in the bush, but not a whole lot of say in the ordeal!! Anyway.......there is no need to worry, Shane and Roy's house is not light and it would be best to have another 4 inches of ice. Give me a ring.

I don't think they have fixed much

More playas bite the dust.  Probably at least 5 more by the sounds of the reports.  Gotta be at least the many so I can be out too!

Have faith. You can see progress and ice depth from previous years on the Eagle Docks FB page. They said 16 inches a day or so ago.  A few years back they had 16 inches only a week before official ice out.  60s to even 70s next weekend.  It will be gone before opener. I'm planning on docks and lifts next weekend, but I am in a small protected bay that goes out pretty early.

We need optimism right now. The small bays haven't even opened up yet, which is typically two weeks before the big bays lose their ice. The forecast is in our favor though and I see that it's windy today, also a great sign.

Go to the DMV, see if there's a serial number on it. They should be able to title it

I moved my blind right into the middle of the field after I left this morning.  It sticks out like a sore thumb on the landscape.  A friend advised me to try this.  We'll see if it works later.  I hate the way it looks without blending in, but I have to try something else.

Im getting a ton of them also. So bad that I have to back out of the site and retry. Anyway to prevent them?

For a long time I've been getting pop-ups and error pages where I have to back page. I just thought it was the price of playing in the old sand lot! 🤔
