Well got into my first batch of ice eye's tonight what a blast!! I had alot of action, I got into a bunch of smaller fish but managed to ice one beauty. The ice was around 4 1/2 inches where I was but there are alot of iffy areas so be carefull. The fish were relatively aggressive hitting bigger baits during the time the snow was comeing down then they turned neutral once the front passed through. Smaller presentations were a must to keep iceing fish the rest of the evening. Good luck to all who venture out in the future and may you have a safe and prosperous ice season.

I was wondering if you were venturing out yet. It'll be a little bit yet for me. I've got to get all my gear ready yet.

I had 4 1/2 inches were I was at but the ice varies alot this time of year. I would guess by Friday alot of the skinny ice should be walkable. I was out tonight again and I found about 5 inches in the area I was fishing so it's definately makeing ice.

Icehawk, you're crazy. Remember, us bigger guys need more ice!!!

Actually, I put new line on last night and am hoping to get out on Friday around here.

Icehawk, good to hear you got out. I will be heading to a lake North of St. Cloud to kick off the ice season this weekend. We sent out a probe to test for us and the report was 6" of ice. I am guessing this will be 9" by this Saturday.

So who drew the short straw? wink.gif

He is a whily veteran of the ice and in this case much braver then us. He actually went out solo so until we got the phone call back we had no idea if he was okay or an ice cube...

I don't think they have fixed much

More playas bite the dust.  Probably at least 5 more by the sounds of the reports.  Gotta be at least the many so I can be out too!

Have faith. You can see progress and ice depth from previous years on the Eagle Docks FB page. They said 16 inches a day or so ago.  A few years back they had 16 inches only a week before official ice out.  60s to even 70s next weekend.  It will be gone before opener. I'm planning on docks and lifts next weekend, but I am in a small protected bay that goes out pretty early.

We need optimism right now. The small bays haven't even opened up yet, which is typically two weeks before the big bays lose their ice. The forecast is in our favor though and I see that it's windy today, also a great sign.

Go to the DMV, see if there's a serial number on it. They should be able to title it

I moved my blind right into the middle of the field after I left this morning.  It sticks out like a sore thumb on the landscape.  A friend advised me to try this.  We'll see if it works later.  I hate the way it looks without blending in, but I have to try something else.

For a long time I've been getting pop-ups and error pages where I have to back page. I just thought it was the price of playing in the old sand lot! 🤔
