Went out Friday and caught pannies as fast as I could get the line down. Didn't have any crappie minnows because the truck didnt show up yet at the bait store. frown.gif I caught 1 decent crappie. One false alarm with tip-up I might try Centerville tomorrow. Plenty of ice on both.

Hi guys,

Just drove by Peltier/Centerville on 14 (12/10, about 5:00 pm). There are about 25 shacks on the west side of Centerville, and more on Peltier out from the pier and boat launch. I was surprised.

Posted

Went out on Centerville on Saturday. Three flags one 2.5lb northern. Lost a good one at the hole. Pulled the hook off the leader.

Lots of small sunnie and crappie out in the main group of houses in 16ft.

My son started on Peltier and caught many sunnie and crappie. Then came over with me. It sure was windy out there.

5" of ice on Peltier near shore and 7" of ice out by the island.

5-6" of ice on Centerville.

Next weekend the big house goes out. Unless we head to mille-acs

Good morning,

Were you able park on the west side of the lake and walk out, or is it best to park at Waterworks?

Posted

Anyone been out lately after the snow? I would imagine it stopped making ice an was curious if the ice started to sag and causing any slush?

Posted

I would be surprised if there wasn't any water on the ice. The cold temps should help, but it won't be the best ice.

Anyone using wheelers or smowmobiles yet?

Wanted to get the shack out this weekend.

Heard it has been pretty slow?

Posted

Hey watch the news tonight....you may see someone go through the ice. I just drove by the lake and there was a pickup truck out there!!!!!!! There is only 5" of ice and 1000 tons of snow...not a good mix...There was also one 4 wheeler and lot of slush on the shoreline.

Posted

Just got back from Centerville, plenty of fish out there but getting them to bite was tough! About 4" ice out there with some slush, also plenty of snowmobilers out tonight.

Posted

They will have to bite sometime. I will walk out this weekend. What happened, it went from 7", to 5", to 4"....going backwards!!

Posted

In regards to the 4" I posted last night, there was a crust about 2" on top of that which probably froze over. Anyway I guess I'd rather post the lesser amount instead of telling there was more and giving someone a false sense of security?

You probably will find 5-6" if you move around. And yeah them fish will start biting sometime! Good Luck, Ole

I was on Peltier Saturday evening and only got a few dink gills. It was pretty slow out there. But icing anything is better than sitting at home or work.

Went (walked) out this weekend, I measured exatly 6" were I was. Lots of wheelers and snowmobiles. Fishing was really slow.

Went out Sunday afternoon on peltier. The sunnies were biting as usual. Caught and released some good sized gills. Yes there are plenty of smaller ones out there but bigger ones are available. Just keep moving till you find them. I have been finding them in 12-13ft of water. Also caught a 11" crappie with a waxie during the day. A few smaller others. Just small perchies biting on Centerville. There are zillions of them down there. You can catch some toothies out in the deep water on Centerville. Also out in front of waterworks. Just stay away from snowmobile trail across lake. mad.gif Drove our snowmobile all over Centerville.

Ron,

I was out there sunday afternoon too on Peltier. I fished the same depths as you and found a few decent sunnies and one decent crappie. If I could keep the little sunfish from getting to my bait first I think I could have found some of the nicer ones. The bigger fish are there but they seem to be picky.

okay lets just say the ice thickness around the lake is any where from 3 to 6 inches and the fish arent biting that much....

On Centerville its slow.

If you arent catching fish on Peltier you are in the wrong spot.

I'm going out Friday on Peltier.

Posted

Anyone else going out Friday? I might hit Centerville for an hour with some tip-ups and then move over to Peltier.I'll be out about noon.

Posted

A friend and I will be out there in the late afternoon on Friday. Most likely around three o'clock or so. We are planning on hitting the east side of the lake and hopefully catching some of those evening bite crappies.

Posted

Just a note:

The crappies and all the fish for us quit biting around 5:00 once it gets dark. We mark them on the Vex but cant get them to bite. I'm going to keep trying different things untill I figure out what they want. Son was out yesterday. A few pannies and one break-off. I will be on the west side by old mill road.

Posted

Is anyone driving ATVs on Centerville? I am think of hitting that tomorrow during the day?

Posted

Used to have my perm out there and then fishing really fell off....could be that the waters REALLY dark..used to use glow in the dark stuff..seemed to work but yeah I also had the vex with them coming up and bumping the bait and that was it. Might have to give it a go again but it sounds like theres about a gagillion people out there.

Posted

yes atv and snowmobiles

I might go out there today and see how the fishes are biting. Sounds like they are there but just not biting. Caught some really good eyes and craps during the spring and summer. The more people the more challenging it get. I think we'll have a good day today, It's not that cold, So we can move around alot better and hope we can find those big ones. Well, good luck guys and gals and be safe.

Was out last night. Many people but not much happening for fish. Lots of tiny little sunfish and a couple small crappie. Did see a couple small northern on the AquaVu. With the 40 degree weather, it was just nice being on the ice.
