Do you have an email address that you can share with me? I recieved an email from a project manager from DNR in Cambridge, Mn. He is aware of the story that ran on Ch 5 and is forwarding information to me regarding that item. I will be happy to forward it to you ASAP. Bill

Not a problem Ray. In early Novemeber a news story headline came on Ch 5 news regarding a problem on a Mora, MN lake. It peeked my interest as we have a cabin on Knife Lake north of Mora. The story came out that the State was going to prohibit reinstalling docks on Ann lake as part of the lake is within the boundaries of a WMA. They talked to one permanent resident who said he had lived there 20 plus years and had never heard of this before. The statement was made that the law even though it had not been enforced in the past was going to be in the future. They also stated that notices had been sent out to residents on the lake informing them of such. Zarkohl did not see the news story and in attempting to contact channel 5 had no results. I did the same and no one answered my emails so I went to the DNR who forwarded my email to a Dan Paul in Cambridge Mn. Mr Pauly emailed me late yesterday afternoon asking what info in particular I wanted regarding this subject. I emailed him back and asked him for a complete overview of the dock situation and how it will effect lake property owners. At this time I am waiting for his return response. Apparently someone from the Ann lake area has also attempted to contact thier State Legistator regarding this situation. I know that if this was happening on Knife Lake where I pay taxes and association dues to the Knife Lake Sportsmans club I would be totally up in arms. Lets see what Dan responds back and I will let you know what he says, possibly get your email address and forward his directly to you and Zarkohl. Sorry to have rambled on, but I wanted to give you all the information that I had and how it all got started. Bill Turck, St Cloud

When I was deer hunting last fall, the obvious explosion of wildlife then was evident then too.  I saw over 50 deer, 20+ turkeys, and too many pheasants to count in a week.  Nothing has changed.  These mild fake winters have to be playing a big role in survival.  And if we get another good reproductive cycle in June, I would expect another booming fall season.

Ya, 120.00 sux. I have Access Broadband, they just raised their rate from 50.00 to 75.00. I'm lucky to get 3 to 5 mbts up or down, sometimes I'll get better. In fairness to them, they have been great trying to respond to my needs, but just can't improve my service. They said that they doubt I'll ever be able to stream a Wild game. I just purchased a new streaming box and it buffers none stop. With the new streaming box and the referral discount, I'll be able to cancel Sling, so, I'll save about 10.00 on my monthly bill. That's what I told my wife 😀 it's true...

That's a better price than when I bought a few years ago. I pulled the giant box across the ice on an old Radio Flyer sled late winter.   Good luck. You'll enjoy Starlink, except for paying the bill. Mine was originally $100/mo, then $110/mo, then they said I was in a low usage area so they dropped my bill to $90/mo for the last two years. I just got a letter a month or so ago saying that we are now in a "high usage" area so they raised it to $120/mo.

I did the app thing. The best place is the middle of my yard and that's not going to happen. I have a tripod stand and a "J" type stand. I've also looked at trimming some trees for a better view of the sky. Once I get it, I'll have to try different areas. Maybe I'll have to hire a guy to climb my tree and install it- I've seen YouTube videos on that. Middle of my roof looks to be somewhat clear, but I don't like to put holes in the shingles. Plus, it's a 12/12 pitch and I don't have Velcro shoes. If anyone is looking to buy Starlink, it's on sale till 4/30 at $159.00. If you do buy it, I can give to a referral code and we'll both get a free month.

With the current conditions and weather forecast I would still stick to Sunday, May 4th.  I almost guarantee Vermilion will be ice-free by the opener on May 10th.  Very likely someone on the list will have the correct date.

Black Bay began opening yesterday afternoon. I could see ice moving around in the middle.

I've got it too. It works great if you can get a clear view of the sky, works decent if there are blockages. I had to take down two trees and still have branches that reach out and interrupt.   Some people have their dish mounted on shore which probably helps a lot. You can download the Starlink app and then walk around your property. It will assess any spot to see if you'll get enough coverage.

I've seen them at the Cub in Minnetonka and just a few weeks ago, the Cub in Chanhassen. The little smelt, smaller than sardines.
