Where can a guy find the bigger walleyes in May? I am somewhat familiar with the east end, but what about the west end as well? I know this all seems backwards with the ice slowly forming, but I am planning a trip probably the second weekend of fishing.

Ben,

The West end seems to put out the bigger walleyes earlier in the spring then the East end.

Finding them is usually the real problem.

Define bigger. West end has on average a bigger size walleye.

If your looking for trophy's your on your own ooo.gif

Trust your graph, and figure out what that big walleye arc on your graph looks like before you catch it.

We are usually up on the west end the second weekend as well. We have found fish on shoreline breaks in about 14-18 feet that is adjacent to deeper water. "bigger" is in the eye of the beholder, but we are consistently catching fish in the 15-19" range. Slooooooooooooow presentation one hour on either side of sunset seems to be the key. Good luck.

in the spring...i think the walleyes are about the same on either end...more numbers east...the way to go after a trophy size is to leadcore line...with raps and the like...i know some guys that regulary go lead lining and they catch some real good fish...oterwise its a crapshoot for a trophy....
