Hey Guys-

I've been checking out FM for a few weeks and have been trying to figure out where these spots are that you are fishing. About the only landmarks I know are the obvious ones like Sandy Point and the Ponderosa. I've been past Mac's but haven't been in there. Any help would be appreciated since I am boatless. Thanks, Greg

GBG, welcome to F.M. We are always glad to have some new input. I'm sure within the next few weeks you will be posting and replying to many of the forums in the site. Cool name too! What's the story behind that?

Anyways about the lake, there really isn't a whole lot of public shore line available for fishermen. I think the only real public fishing acsess is at Fisherman's Inn. The cement steps have been recentley posted as off limits and I think Ryan's Bay also has very little to offer as far as shoreline fishing. Sandy Point bridge has given up a few bass and a few cats now and again. Mac's is nothing more than a plunge pool below the dam. It's mostly a shallow bay that is the mouth of the river. There are a few deeper holes up by the turbines too.

But once the ice freezes up good we can all have lake front property. Just put up a portable or stop by my permanent and join in.

Once again, welcome on board!

The GBG comes from the remake of "Gone in 60 Seconds" movie...It's on the shifter knob/nitrous button...anyways, thanks for the info, I've been on the lake once by boat so I have general idea of the layout, so hopefully some decent ice shows up soon. Thanks again

Greg,

Welcome to FishingMinnesota. I'd be more than happy to take you out ice fishing on the Zumbro. I've never ice fished that body of water, but I've done well in open water on several occassions. I just moved to town, so I just missed the ice fishing season around here, but plan to hit it hard this year.

As for land marks and public fishing shores, I personally don't have much to add over Dan's advice. Again, welcome to FM.

PS. I love Gone in 60 Seconds. I might have to dig out the DVD tonight since I haven't watched it in a long while

I don't think they have fixed much

More playas bite the dust.  Probably at least 5 more by the sounds of the reports.  Gotta be at least the many so I can be out too!

Have faith. You can see progress and ice depth from previous years on the Eagle Docks FB page. They said 16 inches a day or so ago.  A few years back they had 16 inches only a week before official ice out.  60s to even 70s next weekend.  It will be gone before opener. I'm planning on docks and lifts next weekend, but I am in a small protected bay that goes out pretty early.

We need optimism right now. The small bays haven't even opened up yet, which is typically two weeks before the big bays lose their ice. The forecast is in our favor though and I see that it's windy today, also a great sign.

Go to the DMV, see if there's a serial number on it. They should be able to title it

I moved my blind right into the middle of the field after I left this morning.  It sticks out like a sore thumb on the landscape.  A friend advised me to try this.  We'll see if it works later.  I hate the way it looks without blending in, but I have to try something else.

For a long time I've been getting pop-ups and error pages where I have to back page. I just thought it was the price of playing in the old sand lot! 🤔
