There have been people out fishing on the channel on Coon Lake for the last two days. Theres about 3 inches on the channel. I heard of some guys fishing the back waters of the Rum River also. I'm going to give it a try after the vikes game tomorrow.

Thursday and friday did not look good for the channel ice. It did stay frozen over in the high winds but looked pretty thin. Seen several places on friday where there had been people checking ice but looked like they had not gotten much pass about 10' off the shore line and turned around. It was good to see one group that was checking ice was smart and had life jackets and ropes with.

Didnt make it back up there to check today. Wouldnt be suprised if the ice was marginal today. If the warm weather hits and rain for sunday kiss any ice good by.

hope those kids where all right.
