Tuff year to be a Pack Fan

The Season hasn't even begun and it isn't looking good for the green and gold.

The Packers have had a awefull offseason. The Packers won't be able to stop the run, pressure the opposing quarterback, turn the opposition's offense over, and have simple no defensive depth or margin for error. Other than that the D should be OK.

The secondary has more holes in it than a peice of Wisconsin Swiss Cheese. Ahmad Carroll had a very rude awakening to the NFL last year. How many times did we see him get burned deep for 6, and constantly getting caught committing frustrating penalties. Now Al Harris is a good CB but he can't be the I in Team.

The Pack lost their only good shut down when he went across the river to the Vikes. You all know who I'm talking about...sharper. He's already circling his callender and getting ready to give his old cheap team a beating.

Nick Barnett is a playmaker, but he can't play all three spots. Na'il Diggs injury really hurt. The D is filled with Subs and rooks.

Cletidus Hunt has been hurt basically all preseason and has been a major disappointment since getting his big contract.

Grady Jackson barely played last year because of his obese physique. He even had the guts to complain he was underpaid and can't practice.

The biggest dissapointment the packers did in the off season was let 2 of Brett Farve's bodyguards go. Mike Wahle, and Marco Rivera. They have been the core of the packer's line letting Farve throw and Green run. The instantly improved the Panters and Cowboys. Thompson didn't even bother replacing these great guards. The pack now have rookie William Whitticker who holding the fort down...scarry.

Green is still a good back, but he drops the rock way too much and isn't happy there after not getting a big buck contract extension....duhh quit fumbeling and stay healthy.

Although Farve physically looks better than he ever has will this really help his 17 picks that he threw last season. Thats not even including the 4 he thew up in the loss to the Vikes at Lambeau in the playoffs, he is not the same hall of famer we know. I'm predicting even more picks this season not having a good line. The more Farve is rushed the more he tries to carry the team and he makes costly mistakes. Farve and Walker have a McNabb TO thing going to. They are reportidly feuding after Walker is mad and was threatened to hold out if he didn't get paid.

Saddly the NFL placed the Pack on Monday night three times this season. It could easily be over by the time they visit the Ravens December 19th.

All of that and they'll still beat the Vikings.

Was that in last years playoff game or was it this upcoming season that you are referring to? I'm pretty sure the first post in the thread was referring to the current state of the packers.

I was referring to this season. Vikings always find a way to lose, or as I like to say: Snatch defeat from the hands of victory. It's in their nature. I suppose if the Red Sox can win a championship there is always hope for the 'Queens. They are just one of those teams that can't finish the job and history has shown that. Can't argue with the facts.....

Vikes always seem to lose? What about the packers? Doesnt look like they win the superbowl every year.

Never said they did. My point was that the Vikes have a tendency to choke, if you will, in must-win games and have a history of it. Sure, it happens to all teams, but they just can't get that monkey off their back and get to the next level.

Packers seemed to not take it to the next level, 1968-1994 when they won...get this ONE central division crown. Winning one superbowl during your lifetime doesnt void out all the playoff failures.

Yeah i guess i just dont get it, it this is coming from a packer fan. Whens the last time the pack won a "must-win" game. Heck they've lost 2 home playoff games in the last 3 years. I guess i just dont buy the reasoning that the vikings wont do anything this year is because of what happened in 1998, or 2000, or the 1970's. If you want too say the defense is still not championship caliber, thats a reason. If they dont win the SB, its not going too be because of 4 superbowl losses in the 70's.

Vikes fans and Buzz

I'm disappointed in you guys. A Pack fan comes on here and talks trash about this year and the vikes losing. You guys immediately bring up last season's playoff game and then mention the whole superbowl feud. Come on, you guys are better than that. He was only trying to point out the Vikes natural propensity to choke. Not a specific game, just the tendency for it to happen.

Wait, I just reread the the thread and the bowl reference is sort of implied, but not explicityly said. So that's still a little gray.

I'll basically sum up last year. The Vikes choked twice against the Pack in the reg season and lost the Division. Yeah, Christmas had a good feel to it last year. The Pack then choked a few weeks later in the Tundra. Both teams really didn't have a very good shot at the title anyway.

Sled

Why didn't you bring up the stats from 95 to current in the Div. You'd do well on a staff in a political campaign making the numbers look good. I think from 95 on the Green and Gold has 6. The breakdown for the history of the division looks like this 70s owned by Vikes, 80s by the bears, 90s till now by the Pack. Early 90s it was a hodge podge for a little bit there, but Pack has more than anybody else in that time frame so I picked them.

With that being said, I'm not real optimistic on this year. I really do like how everyone is hyping up the Vikes though. It puts a little more pressure on the Purple and not the under-dog(three time defending north Champs) Pack. It will be more fun to razz you guys when they lose. No matter how much you don't want to admit it, they are probably going to split this season. It happens almost every year regardless of how good each team is.

The reality is that the Vikings beat up the packers in all 3 games last year. It is tough to beat the green and gold AND the black and whites at the same time though.

I am still trying to figure out how there is a fumble, a big pile, then you see a Viking 20 yards from it all with the football and after a "conference" they give the ball back to the Pack. Hmmmmmmmm.......

This year will be ugly. I hope Favre has plenty of pain killers.

I'm really just waiting for the regular season to start before I break out with the "Ahman fumbles again" or Favre dives out of bounds on the 1 yd line instead of plowing into the end zone" or "did the pack lose another home game on Lambeau field" shots. Last year or prior years mean nothing to me at the beginning of a new season.

Nolte, whats your NFC North prediction??

Wow

An excuse about the Refs, that sure is groundbreaking. If you need every call to go your way, I think it shows that maybe one team wasn't that much better. Hey maybe it was a diabolical conspiracy brainstormed by Madden and the NFL because they love Favre so much.

In all the sports games I've ever played in or watched, there was only one case where I would say the refs completely lost the game for one team. Please come up with something better than they beat them up but the refs blew it.

Buzz, I think it's going to shake out like this

Vikes, hate to admit it

Pack, with lots of ups and downs

Lions, They are masters at blowing it

Bears, Cause they can't catch a break at QB

The North always has a lot of tight games so you just never really know how they will play out.

The one thing you can't factor in are injuries. You guys losing Birk is a big blow. It's hard to replace Pro Bowlers. Every team is just a couple of key injuries away from becoming getting tossed out of contention.

The truth is if the packers did not win the one superbowl in a nearly 40 year span they would be known as monumental chokers. It seemed to make everyone forget the years and years of dismal faliures...but wait! seriously you have to be in a position to choke and for that 68-94 span the packers never got the chance to be chokers. And what are Wisconsin types doing on a MINNESOTA related website complaining about the vikes and vikes fans???? tongue.gif cough, groupies, cough

I must have missed the disclaimer that this site was only for Minnesotans. It wouldn't make for any good football banter if there weren't any of us cheeseheads here.

Also, if you are such a dyed in the wool Blue Plater why don't you trade in the Skidoo and get a Polaris or Arctic Cat.

I'm going to remember the phrases "Monumental Chokers" and "Dismal Failures". I'd be carefull they might catch up with you at the end of the year. Just let me know when you guys need a hand stepping off the bandwagon.

Unless I missed the ceremony, I haven't seen anyone handing out any trophies for anything yet this year.

Hey Sledneck

Now I'd like for you to go back and recap the Vikings history!! Or should I share some memories??

must be a youngster...

I'm not pulling the Super Bowl card, I'm talking about the must-have games to get to the playoffs or advance....i.e. "take a knee" in the Atlanta game, 4th and forever for the lowly Cardinals only to let them score a TD to win and knock the Vikes out of the playoffs, etc.

It just seems like there are those key plays in key games that always get them. Yeah I remember there's that 4th and forever for the Pack against the Eagles a few years back, but like I said earlier, there seems to be a big monkey on the back of the Vikes that they can't shake. Reminds me of the Chicago Cubs. Oh, I almost forgot the 41-0 against the Giants a few years ago...that was a beaute, Clark.

It's one thing to just not play well for an entire game, but when it comes to crunch time and the hands reach around the neck, well, that's what I'm taking about.

And the comment about the refs.....I just have to laugh and I'll leave it at that.

As a diehard lifelong Viking fan... I cannot argue that fact! But that really has no bearing on this year.

Ok any viking fan here knows about the teams history. I know about 1998, i was crushed, that was rediculous too lose too that falcon team. 2000, that was just plain horrid. I just have too laugh when people want too proclaim that as the reason the vikings wont win this year. They might not win it, but it wont be because Denny played "not too lose" in 1998, or because they lost 4 superbowls 3 decades ago. If history means something then lets just put the 49ers and cowboys in the NFC championship game and the steelers and raiders in the AFC championship game. Give the bengals the #1 pick in next years draft and dont even let the chargers and lions play this year. Packer fans should know all about just how much history means. I remember a double digit underdog bronco team that had lost 4 superbowls headed by John Elway who couldnt win any big game. The packers help change the way we see Elway and the bronco organization. Thats how much history means.

Players come and go. Coaches come and go. History has no factor in how they play today, tomorrow, or next year but my entire point that is being missed is that there is this black cloud that hangs over the Vikings. Call it bad luck or whatever, but it seems that history becomes the present much too often for this franchise. They can't get over the hump. Is that clear enough?

I was just pointing out a few past, yes history, instances that seem to relive themselves over and over in some form or fashion. I'm not bashing the Vikings, just saying that they have some hard luck sometimes and even with all the negatives pointed at the Pack in the initial post, there are things this team just can't seem to overcome no matter the talent or how the stars are aligned.

I just wonder if it becomes a mental block to some of them and always have it in the back of their mind "how are we going to lose this game this time" instead of thinking positively like winning teams do, no matter the situation......and a lot of that has to do with proper coaching.

OUCH, must have struck a nerve. The reason I dont own a Poo or AC is that judging by what one sees out on the trails, im about 300lbs too light and not nearly intoxicated enough to ride one. But anyway lets enjoy the football season.

All you guys who are frustrated by what you've seen from the vikings so far, be glad your not a lion fan. I've never seen a pro team look as rotten as they did last night against the rams. Blowie Harrrington looked like a target at a rifle range. And the defense looked like a mediocre junior college defense at best.

Every year is a great year to be a Packer fan. That is what is "special" about being a Packer fan. Winning the Super Bowl is not the greatest thing about being a Packer fan. Been there done that, more than once!!

I'm a cheesehead for life but that last post was pretty lame. Raise the bar a bit bud. Wait for season to roll around and then sling some mud. Everyone knows there is going to be lots of bonehead plays, poor calls, stupid coaching decisions, and missed field goals to bash each other one. Wait for one of those and then go full tilt and leave out the ring reference.

Speaking of kickers, I see the purple still have two of them. How can you possibly keep those two blue chippers on the roster. Must be rough.

Probably not, I think he's going to be helping re-build his home town of Kiln... brick by brick and will retire a tired battered wounded old wrinkled FB player.

I'd say this has to be his last season! It could be fun watching that turd that they drafted tossing passes next year...Aaron Rodgers will be a bust, no arm strength or agility... yeah baby!! But atleast you have a great kicker in Longwell! grin.gif

The Packers have cut a pair of players who at one time were penciled in as starters for the upcoming season. The team's official website reports that defensive tackle Cletidus Hunt and linebacker Ray Thompson were among the players the team released on Saturday. The team also released quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan, running back Walt Williams, fullback Vonta Leach, wide receivers Craig Bragg, Sam Breeden, Jamal Jones, and Andrea Thurman, tight end Sean McHugh, offensive linemen Brad Bedell and Joey Hates, defensive linemen James Lee, R-Kal Truluck and Seante Williams, linebackers Corey Jenkins and Nick McNeil, and cornerbacks Chris Day and Leigh Torrence.

Our View

Hunt shot himself in the foot by missing the offseason workouts for a second year in a row. He earned the reputation as a lazy player and with teammates, coaches, and fans. The release of Thompson seemingly paves the way for Paris Lenon to start at outside linebacker.

True that the packers do not have a coach, which is the main reason you see all the bonehead plays, "but" since your a cheesehead for life then you know that the people will still be wearing their packer clothing whether they win or lose. Nothing lame about that.

I hear ya, I'll always be rooting for green and gold year after year. My post was just to stay away from the Bowl reference and rib those Vikes fans on some other mishap they have. You've slung some good mud, so I know you've got more in you than the easy super bowl hack. Pack's looking good for opener now that Garcia broke a wheel.

I have a Weboost cellular amplifier at Wakemup Bay. It increases the signal from 1 bar or less to 3-4 bars BUT there is more to the story than bars. For data (like streaming video) I get faster data speeds WITHOUT using my booster. The reason as I understand it is that cellular data transmits and receives on multiple channels simultaneously (its called Multi-In-Multi-Out or MIMO.) Most boosters only amplify a single channel at a time. While the phone shows a good signal from the booster it can actually reduce the data speeds that are available with MIMO transmissions. A booster can improve your voice communications while diminishing your data speeds. You might want to look at the Mobile Internet Resource Center on YouTube for a better explanation.

Good morning Mtnman. Yes, the whole rainy lake watershed is under a flood warning. Water is as high as it was back in 2014. Forecast is that is should peak around May 20. All the ice went out last week with all the wind and rain we had. My dock didn’t make it though. Ice blew in and lift the whole thing, crib and all. Mother Nature…adds another project once the water is warm enough to work in. This week looks a little drier…I hope! Safe travels when you do head North.

The water was over 22 at the very south end of Mud and the overflow pond. I took that route to get to the cabin, I just moved the signs and drove through, saw a couple carp sunbathing on the warm road. 😂
