Caribou Hunt Club 4mi So. of LeSuer on Game Farm Rd.

I'll be there tomomorrow getting my pup on game birds.

Hope this helps you out? There is also another one called "Traxlers" don't remember where it was though. But is on the south side.

There's supposed to be one around Miesville but I don't know the name and I've never been by there.

How much does it usually cost to take a pup to a game farm to get him on some birds, especially if I am not planning on carrying a gun and or killing any?

311...if you are not planning on carrying a gun or killing any why don't you just put you're dog on wild birds for free? Some game farms like Caribou allow you to scratch hunt for already release birds during off times of the week. Meaning you only pay for what you shoot, but don't pay a fee to have birds released.

Talk to the game farm managers or owners.

If this is early stage training - I would avoid pheasants, at least roosters.

I prefer to place the birds in cover my self. Know exactly where the birds are and train towards them.

Work your way to more natural situations - then to wild birds.

Traxlers is in LeCenter. Been there personally many times. It is a great place.

I am bringing my pup to Traxlers next weekend. This will be her first shot at live birds. I am sure they run a good operation, but I will put up a post when I get back.

Bigfife,

I thought that you packed up and left the country. Haven't heard much from ya since after the Rush Lake Cleanup.

fishnhooks, good to hear from you. I was back at my parent's house all summer and the internet is sooo slow there that I don't even bother. I am back at school and on FM about 10 times a day.

Sorry guys, off subject a little, but I will be at Traxlers on Monday and I will give you guys some feedback.

  • 2 weeks later...

It was a very nice place. From what I saw, there were 6-8 fields that were all set up with groups of hunters. The clubhouse is very nice and the people were too. They have a duck hunting area too. This looked like a bit of joke to me, but to each his own. We were only there to train and not hunt, but there were a lot of scratch birds popping out all around.

I've been to both Traxlers and Caribou many times. Traxlers is an absolutely great game farm. I would recommend talking to Quinn to get things set up, he will treat you right. Traxlers also does wild game feeds most Thursdays, great food.

Caribou is a more laid back game farm, It is a great place to shoot for cheap, I would recommend their sporting clays course, great bang for your buck!

I have questions about the following hypothetical. Buy used boat and trailer from Iowa Resident. Would need to transfer, and I have not done before. Duck boat, may occasionally fish out of it. Technically 15'11 1/2" long. Will have motor. Do I need a title? Does it need registration?   Same for trailer. Need a title? Need Registration? License Plate?   Thank you for any help.

I realize it's only been 2 days Raven77, but are you continuing to see the level decreasing?

Sight fished this one, also got a 19" off a bed with a senko but didn't get a picture because my phone died. Length was 14" for the one in the photo. Haven't been able to get out much recently, but I should be able to go Saturday.

Sizes caught matched most recent survey very closely - a lot of 12-14" fish with a few 15". Three to six feet of water against rocky shoreline at dusk was very productive. Fish still discharging milt. Should continue to be great fishing for next couple weeks along shoreline.

Our group of 6 guys did pretty good. From Thursday evening to Sunday caught a bunch of crappies, 4 walleyes that were to big, a handful of pike and sunfish. One sunfish was 11". All on the west end.

You did a lot better than us...  Did you mostly catch them in mornings and evenings or were you able to catch them mid-day also?

We were up this past weekend.  We got cold but did ok.  We caught around 40 walleye.  Most were 12-14" a handful of 14-16".  Good activity and a full fry pan, but no bigger fish.  Frazer and Smarts bays.  All Jig and minnow.  Mornings we found them at 24-26 FOW.  Evenings in 7-10 FOW.  Water temp was 50-52.

Was out the last 2 days. Saw some Crappies caught in warmer bays. Not much action outside the mouths of bays today. Hoping it picks up this week. Trying to learn this lake over the summer.
