Myself and three college friends are renting a houseboat this weekend and sepending four days up on Vermilion. Our primary goal is to chase Muskies but if we get to frustrated with that we are going to switch to Smallmouths.

Does anyone have any tips or types of places that we should try to find either Muskies or Smallmouths? I am not looking for any secret spots just trying to narrow down the search area since Vermilion is so large.

This will be our first trip to Vermilion so any help would be great.

Mr. B,

I would be happy to help, but I do not fish for either species! wink.gif

The walleyes are hitting either minnows or crawlers on a plain lindy rig. 12' to 20' of water has been my best depths.

Cliff, are they starting to move to the bay mouths or still out on the reefs just a little shallower? I am planning on heading out this weekend and can't decide where to start.

The bay mouths have been producing the best fish early and late in the day. Also the rocky shorelines. smile.gif

The reefs have been better during the day.
