Hey Stranger's~

Well, I went and bought a boat.

Looking to start up Chartering next spring.

Anyway's I'm wondering about name suggestions for the boat and charter name. The classic play on names would be nice. I was thinking 'Mother Superior' for the boat but, that is already taken. Or 'Strange Bru-la' Charter's... But that seemed a little weak.

Have fun~

Butch Brula

p.s. BD110 - can you tow 12000#'s + trailer from Ohio? shocked.gif

Butch, good to hear from you. What kind of boat did you get. We finally came up with a name for are boat. After talking with Joel we decided on "Never Enuff" So if anyone sees a brown 20ft starcraft islanded with that on the back cooler. Give us a call on the radio. Butch, let me know when you get her, I would like to check it out.

Butch congrats. The happiest days for a big lake boater is the the day you buy the boat and the day you sell it.

I don't like Mother Superior or 'Strange Bru-la' Charter's.

In fact if I were looking for boat a charter I'd stay away from 'Strange Bru-la' Charter's. grin.gif Don't realy what to find out what a "Strange Bru-la" is when I'm on the big lake. grin.gif

Anyway I'm coming up blank right now for a name, well besides ACME Charters. grin.gif

Good Luck.

Not sure if this will instill any confidence in your boat, but how about "EDMUND FITZGERALD II"? confused.gif

Were you thinking of chartering out of duluth or superior? It's a tough business, a lot different than taking out a crew of friends when you have a hot hand. Good luck to you though if you wind up going for it. Hopefully the gas prices will let you make enough to pay your mate. Definately post a link to the website when you get her going.

Matt Duluthguy has been on the lake as a 1st mate for a few years. He knows what he is getting into.

Good luck Butch and I know you will do fine. The 1st few years will be the test but you know that.

Butch, I'am not very good at naming things. Heck took all summer to come up with a name for our boat.

my vote would be "fish on board charters"

Any way to put the twins names together for the boat name?

Congratulations, nice boat.

Try this guy, he has a large hydraulic trailer to haul boats up to 40ft, hes name is Dave, 612 490 1575, tell him Val sent you. Right now he's in FL hauling a 33ft back here.

There's no problem hauling boat from OH, just be sure you get all the permits since it's a 12ft beam and it's an Oversize Load, but bigger problem is trailer, you need a special type to move V Drive inboard boats.

Thanks Val for the tip.

I give him a call. The normal price I was quoted (6 times) was $3K. I can have a trailer built for $5K there.

Ran - Joel thought twin screws would be a go name - Of course, I had to throw him overboard after that. shocked.gif

The twins names are Isabelle (Belle) Juliette and Paris Antoinette - so....?

Thanks for the promo Northlander!

You bud still on the no-carb diet - oh, except Leinenkugel's? smirk.gif

"Twin i's"

(Toni and Juli)

(by any chance, twin I/O's??)

or perhaps "TeeJay" or "JayTee"

"Daddy's Girl(s)"

or, since they're little infants, "Lil Stinkers" or "Stinkeez"

"Mom Is Mad"

how 'bout "I Got Mine"

or "Dad's vette"

"Boopers" or "Upchucks"

Here's some not related to family:

"Fish Dawg" or "Dawg Fish"

"Pink One Won" don't even ask! That was for me

"Tangled Up" or "Birds Nest"

"Sunrise Pink" or "Pink Sunrise" we fishermen like 'em both smirk.gif

"Morning Mist"

"The Herschel" as in, I traded away my future for this!?!

For a computer junkie:

"Giga Bites"

"Hertz So Good"

"Red Snapper" okay, okay, that's another one we fishermen like!

Here's some spoonerisms, sort of:

"Peaky Snete"

"Crisco Sid"

Puns:

"Ale's Wife"

"It Smelt"

"4age Fish"

"No Lawyers" as in, lawyers=eelpout

"Not Poutin"

"Pout 'n Trout"

OK guys, get on this. Let's have some fun!

Butch welcome back. While I cannot think of a proper name for your vessel, (that wouldn't warrant some improper thoughts) it would still be great to get you out fishing with the gang. Give me a shout if you have free time or....Join us for some ice fishing this year smile.gif

BD110, we are waiting for your post in the ice fishing league? It wouldn't be the same with out you.... tongue.gif

Butch,

What is wrong with "The Paris Belle"?

Or "Double Ette"

"Ette Two Brula' " with the long A sound?

Paribelle-um?

Sister Ship

Hen Wrecker (As in a female fish.......)

Good luck and if you come up with a good name, I will remember it, I haven't chartered up there for a few years so I am pretty sure I will need some one new to go out with....

Very low, probably 2 feet lower than last year at ice out.

what do they look like this spring?

I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!
    • Brianf.
Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
