Is Hwy 8 construction and associated traffic back-ups improving any (especially during the 4:30-6:30 PM weekday period), or is it still pretty messy?

Thanks in advance

Bad any time of the day, taking 97 out of forest lake to lofton of olinda trail is not bad.

Turn right at 23 (by the driving range)

Follow 23 past the Green Lake access, up the hill, down the hill and around to the right and you'll see county road 85.

Take county road 85 to the right (only way it goes) and follow it around the south end of Chisago Lake.

About 3 miles and you'll come to an intersection with a little housing development on your left on the hill, take a left there.

Follow that road to the left to the "T" in the road and take another left. That's Olinda Trail and will take you to the DQ in Lindstrom on highway 8.

It'll get you past Chisago and Lindstrom and most of the road work, just not the work that's going on between Lindstrom and Center City, which will probably be the worst for the rest of the summer, now that they're putting a new connection between South Center and North Center, opening it better for boat traffic.

lwnman is right, but, the road you turn off of 23 is 83. You take 83 to 85(road on left). Or you can take 83 right to Olinda Trl (only about 3/4 mile further). The roads are a mess, and even worse when you have to do it day after day.

If your final destination is past the construction area I would recommend taking 35 to the Stacy exit. Go through Stacy and stay on this until the road comes to a "T". Go right and you run into highway 8 at the Hardees just past the construction. It is a couple miles longer but is definitely at least 10 minutes shorter. Good luck.

You COULD do that, but about 2 miles of county road 19 (out of Stacy, before you get to Lindstrom) is all tore up as well.

Best thing to do to get away from the construction around Hwy 8??? Head to Detroit Lakes. smile.gif

Sorry about the wrong road earlier too. Grow up in an area and you learn to turn "past the red shovel, over Martin's outhouse, yada yada yada" Never look at actual road signs smirk.gif

Opener was decent on Saturday and absolutely on fire Sunday. 9 eyes, three over 25 in, one at 28.5. A bunch of largemouths, some crappie and perch and a TON of bullhead. One of those weekends where your hands start to hurt.

I'm quite happy since I'm going fishing with a pal for the first time in a long time. We plan to purchase some clothing for it, such as exclusive hoodies.

The majority of docks can't be put it. Water is over the top of pretty much every permanent dock.  Very few docks are in.

Crappies are all up shallow in the south metro. Caught this one shore fishing with a beetle spin from a more secluded lake without much access. All of the crappies were between 7-9 inches with this 11.5" being the exception

A co-worker reported they had some the best fishing ever on V last weekend.  Trolling 6-8 feet in the morning with HJ10’s.  Where the water temps were in the mid/low 50’s

Those campsites are right across the water from us. Seem pretty well protected and I haven't heard of challenging over there. Holiday weekends they fill up very fast

My son camped on Hinsdale with his aluminum runabout. Nice site but walking across the hull parked on uneven ground he separated a couple of the rivets.

Thanks "Skunked Again!" I searched old posts and it sounds like my fiberglass boat might not be the best rig for Hinsdale. Still, would appreciate more advice/input.

I don't know about either of them, but welcome to the forum.

I destroyed my main propeller saving a neighbors dock section from ramming my other neighbor's dock. Definitely watch out for each other out there.   Raven77 - on the plus side of the high water, the floating swim platform that you sold me the other year was able to just float off of the rocks that I had beached it on. No need to do any heavy lifting this season! I'm glad that I tied it to a tree as usual.
