Grand Marais/Gunflint Trail Report

Recommended Posts

i don't have much of a report for up the trail as I have not been up for a week or so. But Mid-trail the smallies are biting on just about everything. Tube jigs, and cranks in a crwdad color will turn fish, as will leeches and worms.

Walleye fishing seems to be a little better with the mayfly hatch dying down somewhat. Still been kinda tough, I have picked up a few eaters on Devils Track, Two island, Ball Club. Including a 25 incher on Ball Club.

Trout, are biting good on small spoons, worms and flies. Seems them stocked trout always can save the day.

Good Luck,

Trapper

protrapper, MY fiance and I are going to be staying at Okontoe campground the first weekend in Aug. Have you fished Bow/Quiver/Shoko? I have a 12 ft aluminum boat, would it be worth my effort to bring it up there? What could I plan on catching? I have never fished the area, and am kind-of a spring chicken when it comes to fishing. ANY info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
