Hi everybody, hope the clean-up from all the storms is going OK. I've been watching this site for the last couple weeks and looks/sounds like you folks have just been pounded. We sure could use some of the rain you have been getting down here....drier than a popcorn fart.

Anyhow, bringing the wife and all the kids (for probably the last time for the kids for a while as they've all just "graduated")7/9. Was wondering if fishing (if anyone has had time to get out) was doing any good. We'll be staying on Star but like to move around. Would love to get some crappie/bluegills and a few 'eyes would be great. Any info/tips would sure be a plus. Called up to the resort after the storms and sounds like the lakes are really up. Hope everybody is Ok and if anyone can respond, that'd be wonderful. Hang in there.

A lot of the smaller lakes are doing well on bluegills. With the warm weather this week, it should stay good.

Check with the local bait shops, and they should steer you to a good one. Right now, just about any lake with a known good bluegill fishery should be fine.

Thanks for the reply, really looking forward to this trip, bought a new boat up there last year but only got to fish out of it twice before we had to load up to come home. Got it in the water back here just enough to get 'er broke in. Anyhow, less than 24 hours before we head out, gonna take a leasure drive up and will be at the resort Saturday afternoon. Thanks again and if anybody else has any tips, I'll check the site before leaving in the morning. smile.gifsmile.gif

i'd stay on star for the eyes.. But as for crappies and gills head to dead lake. Fish the east end before the narrows in the weeds.. Look for the areas where there are many different kinds.. to the east of the access... Crappies will normally be on the weedline...The lake I don't think lets anyone down on panfish.. The lake's loaded and it's pretty hard going out there and not catching any.. Hope you have a great stay up north good luck fishin'!

Just a quick note to thank Gissert and Tacklebox for the replys. Get'n ready to "wake up the crew" to get moving!!

The wife's aunt & uncle are staying on Dead this year..think I'll wait a day ot 2 to see what they come up with. Taking the daughters boyfriend and the son's girlfriend along as well this year. I can't wait to see their reactions when/if we find a "honey hole" and they get to start haul'n 'em in. ooo.gifshocked.gif It'd be even funnier to see 'em get one of them big Star lake dogfish I've been reading about on here (YUCK!! grin.gif)Well time to get a move'n...got a lot of driving to do. I'll post a report when we get back. See ya'all in a couple weeks.
