Which prop on 94 Merc 75?

archer59

Question

I can't find any numbers on my prop, and my Merc book won't be here until next week. What is the stock prop, and any suggestions for a new one. Will use the current prop for a spare. 1775 Pro-V. Thanks in advance for responses.

So...what prop do you have now and does it work well?

You need to check the rpm range that your motor is rated for and compare it to what you actually get at WOT(wide open throttle). If the prop you have now works well in all situations, just get the same prop. If when your are fully loaded you are running on the very low end of or below the normal RPM range, you should consider a smaller pitch prop. If you are at the very high end of the rpm range fully loaded I would consider a larger pitch prop. Right in the middle I would stay where you are.

1 note here: dropping your pitch 2 inchs will bring your RPM by about 400 RPM. Upping the pitch by 2 inches will decrease your RPM by around 400 RPM.

Another note: A stainless steel prop flexes less at high RPM and will keep it's pitch where an aluminum prop flexes and loses some pitch. Meaning stainless steel will give you a few more MPH on the top end.

Wow (Contact US Regarding This Word).. that's a clear, concise post... for as many propping questions as get asked in this forum I sometimes wonder if there shouldn't be a frequently asked questions thread... and your post should be there...

If I knew the prop pitch I have now ... I wouldn't be asking these questions. I was told it is the prop that came with the motor new.

Take the prop off and look inside or outside of the hub, it has to have some numbers.

Also on outside in between blades sometimes there is something.

I would say 13" x 17pitch but I am just tossing stuff, you have to be more precise.

Do a search on this forum and you will find many ways to calculate prop size and/or already a post with pop size for your motor/boat combo.

Has anyone here had any luck on Rice Lake yet this year? All that rain a couple of weeks ago made the water level go way up and fishing opener for us was a complete bust ( although apparently someone on the lake caught a 31" walleye according to a DNR officer).   I'll be up there for at least part of the long weekend this weekend. Looking forward to some fishing. I'm contemplating targeting the bay that Morning Star Resort is on for some walleye. I don't claim to be an expert in fishing or fish behavior but it's early season so shallower seems to be better than deeper dropoffs like we would normally target during the summer. Forecasts I've seen suggest targeting bays too. Anyone have thoughts on that?   Good luck to anyone out there this weekend! Hopefully the fishing is back to normal after the weird start to the season.

Heading up to crane Lake area. How are conditions and any tips / pointers?

Yes indeed. We actually bought it together. We wedged the pontoon boat into that lift last fall and hoisted it out of the water. Unfortunately the water came up so much this spring, the pontoon couldn't float with the rising levels. There wasn't much that we could do opening weekend except wait for the water to drop and then assess the damage. It's mainly a garbage hauler so no big loss for a $500 boat/motor.

I forgot to post this but I got a jake during season B north of Princeton on some private land.  I had been hunting this flock of birds for 3 seasons now.  I hear and/or see them every day, but simply could not get a legal bearded turkey to come within range.  Finally, a hen came walking out with a jake and I dusted the jake on the 4th day of my hunt.  There's plenty of birds there, including several mature toms, so I intend to keep hunting there in the future as long as I can obtain permission.  The weather was downright terrible.  I had one nice morning of sunshine and then it was windy, rainy, and raw for days.  Saturday morning even produced a heavy summer-type down pour.  I was so thankful to be hunting in a blind.  I also saw a fair amount of other wildlife in four days, including deer, pheasants, a pair of raccoons, and a coyote.

I have questions about the following hypothetical. Buy used boat and trailer from Iowa Resident. Would need to transfer, and I have not done before. Duck boat, may occasionally fish out of it. Technically 15'11 1/2" long. Will have motor. Do I need a title? Does it need registration?   Same for trailer. Need a title? Need Registration? License Plate?   Thank you for any help.

I realize it's only been 2 days Raven77, but are you continuing to see the level decreasing?
