Today's CR Dam Update

Recommended Posts

I found this link tonight about the mississippi at Anoka and elsewhere click on the Mississippi tag on the right for other parts of it.

Went down to the CR dam tonight and it's 5 gates closed on the CR side and 5 gates wide open on the BP side

Construction Update – June 15, 2005

At its June 2, meeting, the Park District Board of Commissioners awarded the construction contract for the Coon Rapids Dam repair project and established a project budget of $1.2 million. The contractor is in the process of completing a variety of administrative work, including securing permits, drafting plans and ordering materials. The contractor will begin mobilizing the site as soon as possible after a DNR permit is received (expected shortly) and river flows are less than 19,000 cubic feet per second. River flows as of June 15 are 28,830 cubic feet per second and rising with the recent rainfall. For river flow updates, . click here

Thanks for the link to the forecast site. Leaving my boat and electric winch on the river means that I have to watch the levels carefully -- the forecast is great to see.

You may remember that I met you while my 4 yr old son and I were parked under a tree live bait fishing during the rain last Saturday.

Yeah, I followed your lead on the way back home and fished/got out of the rain caught SM and Cats at every spot. When the rain stopped so did the fish. frown.gif By the way my Sunday catch was a Jetski from upriver, caught between my dock and boat, found the owner on Monday. smirk.gif Tie em up tight. grin.gif

I have noticed a drop off in vehicles at the Anoka landing. Is the river safe for boating during the work on the dam?

Today the river is still safe in this section but eratic. It has dropped 23 inches at my dock since last Saturday morning. Still up about 6 or 7 at my place. Drop in traffic I think has been because of the heat, even the locals are staying in there houses, cept me. I took a slow drive down the creek last night and current flow was Much more managable. Guess my trips up to Monti are on hold. May try it tomorrow to get up and socialize at the Magnet. Don't know if I'm dumb enough to try it with the river levels the way they are.

Nice job Bob! Fishing off the neighbors dock sucked for us. My gang is coming up Thursday night till Monday, this will be our opener, we'll hit it hard. It's a bummer my dock is mostly under water and the lift isn't in. Thanks to the neighbor around the corner for letting us park on shore at there place next weekend.

I had a great weekend the weather was decent and fishing was good. I caught 5 walleyes 21"-25", 4 northerns largest was 32" and a 17 largemouth opening day. 2 more walleyes, 2 crappies 2 northerns on Sunday all on jig and minnows.

We had a good opener as well we could have kept limits opening day, but just kept enough for a fish fry. Then Sunday had our little friendly tourney and everyone had a pretty good day. Pulling cranks and jigs n minnows caught fish.

Had a great opening weekend. Son and I boated 51 walleye between Saturday and Sunday. Plenty of small stuff but no problem getting some nice keepers. This is a pic of the best weekend fish for us.

I was on Rice this weekend also. Seen boat lifts with water up to the canopy. I was the only one to catch a fish out of the hole campground It was about a 6" crappie.

We had a pretty good weekend. There were two couples and we limited out both Saturday and Sunday. The eyes we kept were all 15-17”.  We caught many 10-14” eyes and one 26” which was returned to the water immediately. All on a variety of jigs in 18-35’ of water. As usual the women out fished both of us😀

I will second the advice on watching out for floating debris.  We saw a lot of floating logs and deck sections this weekend.  Also, most hazard and navigation buoys were not out yet.  I wonder how many lower units and props were destroyed this weekend?  It would be dicey if you don't know the lake.
