Dog will not go in kennel

2 DA GILLS

I have an issue that is actually the complete opposite from what typically gets asked here. My pup has been house trained and crate trained. He also has an outdoor kennel that he spends the days in. There are days that I can not get home at lunch to let him out and he refuses to go the bathroom in his kennel. Great for in the house or crate, but not when I am gone for extended periods. He has to go so bad when I get home. I feel bad for him.

Any suggestions? How can I teach him it is OK?

Take some "do do" from the yard and put it in the kennel. You could also try going #1 yourself in the kennel (if you don't have neighbors)! It may take a while, but he will eventually get it. I had the same problem with my dog. He would actually accidentally go in the garage floor as he was busting his butt to get outside fast enough after I opened the kennel door for him. Good luck.

You can try doing the opposite of what I did (I never want my dog going in his kennel). When he was young, I would have him on a leash and take him to a certain spot in the yard and told him to go "pee" or "poop", whichever it was time for. Wouldn't let him go anywhere else in the yard but THAT area and if he did, he would get a mild scolding. It took about a week and sure enough, that was and is the only place he will go. No matter were we are in the yard, if you tell him to go he will run straight to that spot and do his business. Sometimes we will loose track of him and look in the back yard and there he is, lifting the leg.

Try doing the opposite with your dog. When you know it's bathroom time, take him into the kennel and stay there until he goes. Soon he will learn that this is a "safe" place to do the business and will feel comfortable with it. If he starts going someplace else, give him a little scolding and bring him to the kennel to finish the job.

Good luck. Dogs can be a lot of work but the fun they bring sure is worth it.

To this day, I am still mad at myself for not taking the puppy to one stop to relieve herself. Now, we have to pick it up or deal with the burn lawn spots. I knew better and got lazy. Dog is lots of work, but worth every minute come fall.

Has anyone here had any luck on Rice Lake yet this year? All that rain a couple of weeks ago made the water level go way up and fishing opener for us was a complete bust ( although apparently someone on the lake caught a 31" walleye according to a DNR officer).   I'll be up there for at least part of the long weekend this weekend. Looking forward to some fishing. I'm contemplating targeting the bay that Morning Star Resort is on for some walleye. I don't claim to be an expert in fishing or fish behavior but it's early season so shallower seems to be better than deeper dropoffs like we would normally target during the summer. Forecasts I've seen suggest targeting bays too. Anyone have thoughts on that?   Good luck to anyone out there this weekend! Hopefully the fishing is back to normal after the weird start to the season.

Heading up to crane Lake area. How are conditions and any tips / pointers?

Yes indeed. We actually bought it together. We wedged the pontoon boat into that lift last fall and hoisted it out of the water. Unfortunately the water came up so much this spring, the pontoon couldn't float with the rising levels. There wasn't much that we could do opening weekend except wait for the water to drop and then assess the damage. It's mainly a garbage hauler so no big loss for a $500 boat/motor.

I forgot to post this but I got a jake during season B north of Princeton on some private land.  I had been hunting this flock of birds for 3 seasons now.  I hear and/or see them every day, but simply could not get a legal bearded turkey to come within range.  Finally, a hen came walking out with a jake and I dusted the jake on the 4th day of my hunt.  There's plenty of birds there, including several mature toms, so I intend to keep hunting there in the future as long as I can obtain permission.  The weather was downright terrible.  I had one nice morning of sunshine and then it was windy, rainy, and raw for days.  Saturday morning even produced a heavy summer-type down pour.  I was so thankful to be hunting in a blind.  I also saw a fair amount of other wildlife in four days, including deer, pheasants, a pair of raccoons, and a coyote.

I have questions about the following hypothetical. Buy used boat and trailer from Iowa Resident. Would need to transfer, and I have not done before. Duck boat, may occasionally fish out of it. Technically 15'11 1/2" long. Will have motor. Do I need a title? Does it need registration?   Same for trailer. Need a title? Need Registration? License Plate?   Thank you for any help.

I realize it's only been 2 days Raven77, but are you continuing to see the level decreasing?
