st. cloud area for memorial weekend

Recommended Posts

Heading up to St. Cloud this weekend to visit the parents. I would like to do some fishing. Any ideas of lakes or the river close to st cloud, that the crappies walleyes or northern are hitting on. My son is a big northern pike fan and wants to beat his record of 13lbs. that he got out of pleasant lake last year. Also what is the ruling on bowfishing for carp and other roughfish in minnesota. In iowa it is legal and thought about bringing the bow. Gonna be up there for 4 days and any ideas would help thanks todd H,

I too am heading that direction to see the folks. I will be on little rock. Bring the bow. All you need is a license. There were many people bowfishing on little rock and the mississippi and that was 3 weeks ago.

Little rock is that a river or a lake? I'm sure my dad probably knows but i might venture off on my own this weekend. I don't think he's into the bowfishing. Has it been good for carp this year so far? Had on a buffalo carp last night that was 25 to 30 lbs, lost him pulled the arrow out. But that is in iowa in the flooded ditches south of town. Water is warmer, they seem pretty active.

It is a lake attached to the river. I think the bowfishing has been good so far this year. My dad says lots of boats coming off of the lake with lots of carp. There are a couple spots to hit from shore as well. It is right off of Hwy 10 if you need a reference point. Good luck.

A safe bet would be any of the smaller lakes in the area. I was out Monday and had above 60 on the graph. Was out Wednesday for league night and temps dipped back down to the 50's.

This weather might put a bit of a clamp on their jaws so you'll have to throw quite a bit at em' until you know what works.

I have a Weboost cellular amplifier at Wakemup Bay. It increases the signal from 1 bar or less to 3-4 bars BUT there is more to the story than bars. For data (like streaming video) I get faster data speeds WITHOUT using my booster. The reason as I understand it is that cellular data transmits and receives on multiple channels simultaneously (its called Multi-In-Multi-Out or MIMO.) Most boosters only amplify a single channel at a time. While the phone shows a good signal from the booster it can actually reduce the data speeds that are available with MIMO transmissions. A booster can improve your voice communications while diminishing your data speeds. You might want to look at the Mobile Internet Resource Center on YouTube for a better explanation.

57 in Black Bay and 44 in Niles Bay today.  The lake is changing by the day and the fishing reflects it.

So sorry, wish I could boat over to help. I think we will wait an extra week to head north.  Prayers for a good resolution.

Good morning Mtnman. Yes, the whole rainy lake watershed is under a flood warning. Water is as high as it was back in 2014. Forecast is that is should peak around May 20. All the ice went out last week with all the wind and rain we had. My dock didn’t make it though. Ice blew in and lift the whole thing, crib and all. Mother Nature…adds another project once the water is warm enough to work in. This week looks a little drier…I hope! Safe travels when you do head North.

The water was over 22 at the very south end of Mud and the overflow pond. I took that route to get to the cabin, I just moved the signs and drove through, saw a couple carp sunbathing on the warm road. 😂
