Pipestone and Jackfish

Any body know or heard anything about the fishing on either Pipestone or Jackfish. I'm going up next Thursday for a short 3 day get away entering from Fall Lake. Are the walleyes still in the back end of the bays or have they moved out to the midlake structures. How about the Bass? Have they finished spawning yet or are they in tight to the shore. I'll let you know what I find out.

The Walleyes are doing alright in Pipestone and Jackfish bays of Basswood. I was just up there last weekend, and caught a lot of smaller walleyes (1 lb to 1.5) Which are great eaters. We did fairly well off some reefs, and in some currents yet. Surprised me, but we caught at least 1 limit of nice walleyes in the currents.

I just had one of my guides up in that area a few days ago.

He was doing fantastic with leeches and jigs. He said the bass are also hitting some on topwater, with Hula Poppers.

But the best was with leeches. He got some nice 3-5 pound walleyes and some nice 2-3 pound bass.

He was fishing on Jackfish just north of where no motors are allowed.

Thanks John. Know the area of which you speak, but don't know if I'll have the time to paddle up that far. Taking the wife, first ever, for a 1 night out thing, and don't want to beat her up paddling the first time out. Know what I mean? Do you know anything about the area near the islands south of hidden bay? Or the reefs south of the islands?
