Gunflint Trail - Maps for Little North and North

Recommended Posts

Heading up the Trail in a week. In the past, have focused mostly on Sag, Gunflint & Little Gun. Got into Lil North and North a bit last year and would like try again (water levels permitting). I've got maps of all these but Lil North and North - the DNR map site doesnt appear to have them. Anyone happen to know of a source on the web for Lil North and North - or will I be able to pick them up at one of the shops in Grand Marais?

Also, I'll second the request below for any reports of how the opener was up there - Gunflint/Sag?

Thanks in advance! (By the way, great site! I'm new.)

Welcome to FM! I haven't fished Sag yet and I've been too busy to head to town and get any good info on the opener. I did hear that there were 15 boats stacked up in James bay and I know of one guy that caught a 26 inch walleye in Red Rock bay but that's all I've heard so far.

Good maps of border lakes can be difficult to get. You might want to call Gunflint lodge and see if they can be of some help. Good luck.

Lakemaps Inc. does make a map with North/Little North on it. It's one of those waterproof plastic card styles of maps that you see in a lot of bait shops up here. I just happen to have mine right in front of me, it's #11317 if that helps. Not sure if they've got a website you can order from. I think I bought mine at a bait shop in Grand Marais, and I think I've seen them in Gunflint Pines store.
